"A Blessing to One Another: Pope John Paul II and the Jewish People" will be shown Oct. 1 - Dec. 4, 2011 in Phoenix, AZ at the George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center, sponsored in part by the Arizona Ecumenical Council.
Known as "The Blessing Exhibit," the collection documents Pope John Paul II's extraordinary contributions to improve relations between the Catholic and Jewish faiths. The presentation includes a multimedia showing of photos, videos, documents and artifacts. The exhibit also documents the story behind the story, telling how the future pope, Karol Wojtyla, and his childhood friend Jerzy Kluger survived the horrors of World War II and the Holocaust in Poland to foster new friendships between Catholics and Jews.
Volunteers and funding are needed to assure the exhibit's showing in Phoenix. To give time or money, please contact Tom Brady, Miryam Salter or Missy Shackelford.
The Blessing Exhibit was created and produced by the Xavier University, Hillel Jewish Student Center, The Shtetl Foundation with grants from The Jewish Foundation of Cincinnati and Xavier University.
