With excitement building around a strong field teeing it up at the 2019 Presidents Cup venue, it begs the question... should the Australian Open be the fifth men's Major?

David Puig took victory at Royal Queensland last week, expertly tipped by Jonny Leighfield, making it four winning tips in the last four events and five in the last six weeks.

Keeping that impressive run going is going to be a challenge, especially with Rory McIlroy in the field, but who have our panel selected to surge past the Career Grand Slam winner and emerge victorious on Sunday? Let's find out...

Crown Australian Open: Expert Betting Tips

Pick One: Daniel Hillier (+2500) To Win @ BetMGM

Hillier has been growing in stature through the years and is starting to look increasingly more comfortable on the DP World Tour and ready to win again after his 2023 British Masters triumph.

The New Zealander, who I think could easily earn one of the ten PGA Tour cards next season, has three top-10s in his last five starts including two top-fives, one of which came last week at the Australian PGA Championship. I can certainly see him contending again this time out.

Pick Two: Anthony Quayle To Finish In The Top-10 (+500) @ BetMGM

The Australian has a remarkable nine top-10s in his last ten starts including a runner-up finish so he is one of the most in-form players heading into the Australian Open.

Whether he quite has the stature to win remains to be seen but with Tiger Woods’ former caddie Steve Williams on the bag he certainly has some great expertise helping him.

The two-time PGA Tour of Australasia winner was T15th at the 2022 Open and would be a very popular winner at Royal Melbourne. I do think that is unlikely, though, but I will pick him for another top-10.

Pick One: Marc Leishman (+1400) To Win @ BetMGM

Leishman is one of the most in-form players coming into the Australian Open with four consecutive top-11 finishes from starts across the PGA Tour of Australasia, Asian Tour and DP World Tour.

A T3rd at the Australian PGA Championship tells me his game is in a great place, and the T3rd result at the Australian Open 12 months ago shows his style suits his home country.

With spots at The Masters and The Open on the line, and having managed to qualify for Royal Portrush via this route last year, Leishman is likely to feel pretty confident he can do it again.

Pick Two: Wenyi Ding (+3500) To Win @ BetMGM

Recent form and course form are really important metrics at this time of year, and Wenyi Ding is another man who is flying at the moment.

The Chinese pro was runner-up at the Australian PGA Championship and was T6th and third in a couple of big Asian Tour events previously.

Add in the fact that he was T5th at the Australian Open last year and you've got a great starting point for a potential contender in 2025.

Ding might well have to carry on producing his A game if he's to win, though, as this is a tough field and his B game isn't likely to get it done.

I'd feel more confident in a top-10 pick here, but Ding could well be a star of the future and this week might turn out to be his breakthrough moment...

Pick One: Adam Scott (+1600) To Win @ BetMGM

Despite missing the FedEx Cup Playoffs in August, Adam Scott hasn't missed a cut since, registering a T27th at the PGA Tour's Baycurrent Classic, as well as a T30th at the Genesis Championship and a solo seventh at last week's BMW Australian PGA Championship.

That solo seventh is what's putting him up for my first pick, along with the fact that the experienced 45-year-old knows Royal Melbourne well, having held a decent record at the 2019 Presidents Cup when this tournament was staged there.

Admittedly, Scott will need to get his putter working, which is always a problem area, but on home soil and re-finding some form, I believe the Aussie is a good pick for this week.

Pick Two: Bernd Wiesberger To Win/Finish In Top-10 (+9000/+500) @ BetMGM

Personally, I think Wiesberger is coming into the event slightly under the radar, especially given his recent form and the fact he appears more settled back on the DP World Tour in the tail-end of 2025.

Finishing T10th at last week's BMW Australian PGA Championship, he was also T17th at the DP World India Championship and T16th at the Open de Espana.

That equates to three top 17 finishes in his last four starts, which shows me excellent form. In Australia last week, he hit 84% of fairways, 72% in greens in regulation and was 4th in putting average, key areas to look for to perform well at Royal Melbourne.

Pick One: Ryan Fox (+3000) To Win @ BetMGM

Ryan Fox is a great price this week, perhaps due to the quality at the top of the board. His stats suit the test that Royal Melbourne sets, ranking in the top-10 for scrambling in each of the past two seasons and 11th for SG: Approach in 2025.

Fox is also a proven winner worldwide, solidifying that status this season with two well-earned PGA Tour victories.

A disappointing third round at Royal Queensland last week halted his momentum, after a solid opening 65, but I can forgive him that and fancy his chances of adding fifth DP World Tour title to his resume.

Pick Two: Alex Fitzpatrick (+5500) To Win @ BetMGM

Alex Fitzpatrick has had a solid season this year, but is still coming into tournaments a little under the radar due to a lack of a maiden DP World Tour win.

That will come in 2026, I am pretty sure of that, but I can also see a world where it happens this week.

Over his last ten events, Fitzpatrick has gained strokes with his short game and putting - which will stand him in good stead at Royal Melbourne.

The Englishman might be a good one to consider in the top-10 finish market, after three solid rounds put him in contention at Royal Queensland last week, but I am going to be brave and take a punt on a juicy price for Alex Fitzpatrick to win.

The tee times are out for the opening two rounds at Royal Queensland, with big names like Min Woo Lee, Cam Smith and Marco Penge teeing it up together as one of a few blockbuster groups.

So, after crunching the numbers and going through their rigorous process, our expert tipsters have once again come up with eight names that you should consider at the BMW Australian PGA Championship this week...

BMW Australian PGA Championship: Expert Betting Tips

Pick One: Adam Scott (+1400) To Win @ BetMGM

The Australian legend has won this championship twice and sounded very focused ahead of the tournament in his press conference, where he seemed confident in his chances of challenging for a first title since the Genesis Invitational in 2020.

Scott has only missed three cuts from 22 events this year and arrives off the back of T30 and 11th-place finishes. This championship has been won by an Australian the last seven consecutive years so I am hoping that trend continues this week in Brisbane.

Pick Two: David Micheluzzi To Finish In The Top-10 (+500) To Win @ BetMGM

Sticking with the Aussie theme, Micheluzzi does not arrive in supreme form this week but I am not too worried as the majority of his best results have come Down Under in his career.

He has four PGA Tour of Australasia victories and won the circuit’s Order of Merit in 2023. He was 5th here last year and has a number of other top-10s in this event, so I like his chances for another top-10.

Pick One: David Puig (+1400) To Win @ BetMGM

David Puig has all the right ingredients to challenge this week, and I believe he's going to do exactly that.

The Spaniard is a massive hitter off the tee, which always helps in these big Aussie events, plus he's a clutch putter. According to Data Golf, Puig has gained strokes on the greens in the past eight tournaments where that information was available.

He's also done similar off the tee with seven out out of his past eight starts seeing strokes gained. If you take into account a top-10 and two top-20s in his past three appearances, Puig is nicely positioned for a run at the title.

Pick Two: Daniel Hillier To Finish In The Top-10 (+200) To Win @ BetMGM

Daniel Hillier was understandably upset after falling short in terms of picking up a PGA Tour card only a couple of weeks ago, but the New Zealander will hopefully have recovered by now and realize he's in a beautiful stretch of form that can help him challenge for the leading honors this week.

Off the back of two top-10s and a couple more top-25s towards the end of last season, Hillier what a good driver of the ball and putter he is.

Possessing a similar profile to Puig in terms of his game, I think we'll see the Kiwi on the first page of the leaderboard after round four.

Pick One: Marc Leishman (+1600) To Win @ BetMGM

Considering he has a victory on the LIV Golf League this year, I think that Leishman is often overlooked when it comes to the betting, which is why I've selected him this week.

Coming into the BMW Australian PGA Championship, he was T11th at the PIF Saudi International, had a solo sixth at the International Series Philippines and a T3rd at the Western Australian Open.It's not just recent form that is convincing me to lump it on the Aussie this week as, in his last two starts at Royal Queensland, he has finished T3rd and solo third. He's playing great golf and returning to a track he loves, so what's not to like about this pick?

Pick Two: Yuto Katsuragawa To Finish In The Top-10 (+500) @ BetMGM

My second pick is Katsuragawa, who has produced some fine results in his last two starts, securing a T4th at the Genesis Championship on the DP World Tour and another T4th at his home open in Japan.

He doesn't have course experience like Leishman, but the 27-year-old has won on the DP World Tour previously, as well as picking up two victories on the Japan Golf Tour.

That tells me he isn't afraid to win no matter the occasion and, with accuracy off the tee and solid putting stats, it may well be the week he earns another top 10 on the circuit.

Pick One: Min Woo Lee (+900) To Win @ BetMGM

Min Woo Lee is a deserved joint-favourite for this event and I can't see past him this week.

He won the Australian PGA Championship back in 2023, also at Royal Queensland, and has found a decent run of form since the BMW PGA Championship this year.

Returning to a venue that he has played well in the past with a recent form record reading T11, T5 and T10 in four starts is very encouraging.

Add into the mix that he ranks 1st for SG: Putting and 7th for SG: Around The Green in this field over the past three months, on a course that demands a solid short game, and I simply have to side with him in spite of the price.

Pick Two: David Law To Finish In The Top-10 (+1000) To Win @ BetMGM

David Law is back on the DP World Tour following excellent performances on the Hotel Planner Tour in 2025 - and I fancy him to start fast in the new campaign.

Law really kickstarted his season when runner-up in Abu Dhabi in April then fired off two wins and four further top-10 finishes.

His only DP World Tour victory to date came in Australia, at the Vic Open in 2019, so returning Down Under in great form should provide a lot of confidence.

With a very strong short game, Law fits the bill to contend at this event and I like his chances of sneaking into the top-10 at a great price.

Golf Monthly Betting Picks: Wins In 2025

The RSM Classic produced plenty of drama last season, as Joel Dahmen kept his card by the smallest of margins. In terms of the winner, Maverick McNealy held off amateur star, Luke Clanton, to bag his first title on the circuit.

McNealy was among the favorites last year and, the year prior, Ludvig Aberg blew the competition away with a 29-under tournament total, signalling his intentions on the PGA Tour via a four shot victory.

Going into the RSM Classic, Golf Monthly's tipsters have found their form as, not only did our experts back winner Ben Griffin at the World Wide Technology Championship, but also Matt Fitzpatrick at the DP World Tour Championship last week.

Looking to make it a hattrick of wins, we have taken a look at which players we're backing this week, where plenty of drama is in-store at St. Simons Island, Georgia.

RSM Classic 2025: Best Bets

Pick One: Michael Thorbjornsen (+2500) To Win @ BetMGM

The young American is deservedly among the favorites for the final event of the season, where he will have one last chance to pick up a win. He's shown flashes of form throughout the campaign and was third at the Baycurrent Classic, so he's playing reasonably well at the moment.

His recent appearances have also seen Thorbjornsen combine power and accuracy off the tee while he has gained strokes in terms of putting more often than not of late. A T8th finish at this event last year tells me he enjoys the layout and his recent form gives Thorbjornsen a fighting chance of reigning supreme in this evenly-matched field.

Pick Two: Sami Valimaki (+5500) To Win @ BetMGM

The Finn doesn't have an awful lot to gain this week, unless of course he picks up a win, and given he's dealing with far less pressure on his shoulders than the majority of his rivals, there is every chance Valimaki could make it happen.

He's coming off a T2nd and a T8th in his past two starts as well, so the form is there. Although he's never played this event before, and he isn't among the longer hitters, Valimaki is usually very accurate and that's never a bad thing when mistakes can be so costly. I'm backing the free-wheeling Finn to enjoy another top-10 this week.

Pick One: JT Poston (+3300) To Win @ BetMGM

A three-time winner on the PGA Tour, Poston knows how to win and, at the RSM Classic, I think he's showing enough recent good form to make it victory number four on the circuit.

At last year's RSM Classic, he finished T5th via six and seven-under-par rounds at the weekend. What's more, he hasn't been outside the top 30 in his last four PGA Tour starts, with the American's game suiting the course nicely. He's among the favorites, but still represents good value for the tournament.

Pick Two: Chandler Phillips (+6600) To Win @ BetMGM

The American enjoyed an excellent runner-up result at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, with Phillips finishing one shot back of Adam Schenk, who produced a clutch par at the 72nd hole for a maiden PGA Tour title.

Having missed two cuts prior to his second place finish, Phillips is finding some form and, crucially, returns to a course where he enjoyed success last year - finishing T8th. Going into the event, he sits 92nd in the FedEx Cup Fall Standings so, although he is likely safe, he will want to make sure of his playing status for 2026 this week.

Golf Monthly Betting Picks: Wins In 2025

The expert betting panel at Golf Monthly HQ banked their 14th winning tip of 2025 at the World Wide Technology Championship last week, with Baz and Jonny both putting him up on their card.

The fun didn't stop there, however, as Baz also had runner-up Sami Valimaki at 100/1, while Elliott and Jonny tipped up Garrick Higgo, who also went close.

Rory McIlroy is close to claiming another Race To Dubai title, but while the Career Grand Slam winner looks to close the season in style there are plenty of notable names who have missed out.

With a strong field remaining at the DP World Tour Championship, we crunched the numbers to find our best bets as we attempt to go back-to-back... and it turns out they all hail from England!

DP World Tour Championship 2025: Best Bets

Pick One: Marco Penge (+2000) To Win @ BetMGM

If I'm honest, I can't see anyone else other than Rory McIlroy or Tommy Fleetwood winning the DP World Tour Championship this week.

But what I can see is Marco Penge pushing them all the way. If he is to have any chance of lifting the Race To Dubai, then Penge simply has to win on the Earth Course.

Three victories already this term, monster driving and a solid all-round game says he can, but it's always going to be tough with the company he's keeping.

Nevertheless, I wouldn't give up on Penge and - at +2000 - he has to be worth an each-way bet to make the top-5...

Pick Two: Andy Sullivan (+8000) To Win @ BetMGM

Sullivan's record at this event is quietly encouraging, it has to be said.

He was runner-up in 2015 as McIlroy reigned supreme again and has managed two more top-10s in recent years.

The holder of the course record on the other side of Jumeirah Golf Estates, Sullivan likes this part of the world and is capable of going low.

Add in his recent form which reads: T15th T4th, T7th over the past few weeks and you've got yourself an +8000 (80/1) shout who can really make some noise, even if a top-10 is much more realistic.

Pick One: Matt Fitzpatrick (+1600) To Win @ BetMGM

Attention will be on McIlroy, Fleetwood and Hatton etc, so I quite like a player who could fly under the radar in Dubai, which is why Matt Fitzpatrick might spring a surprise and contend for a third DP World Tour Championship victory.

His course form is excellent, having won in 2016 and 2020. The only slight negative is that he has produced some average results at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship and Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship of late but, returning to a course he likes, it could be the week Fitzpatrick ends his year with a win.

Pick Two: Laurie Canter (+6600) To Win @ BetMGM

Obviously, the big names are likely to dominate at the Earth Course, but I think Laurie Canter provides good value in the market, given he finished T14th at this event last year, as well as T27th in 2021 and T5th in 2020.

The Englishman has course form and, to help matters further, he seems to have re-found his game of late, highlighted by a runner-up finish at the Genesis Championship and a T23rd at last week's Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. Canter enjoys the Middle East, having won in Bahrain this year, so I expect him to challenge for a top 10 at best.

Pick One: Tommy Fleetwood (+500) To Win @ BetMGM

I went for the favourite last week on the PGA Tour and successfully picked Ben Griffin to lift the trophy in Mexico - so why change what isn't broken?

While Fleetwood isn't technically the market leader, as second favourite to McIlroy, this is an event where the cream rises to the top.

Wouldn't it be the perfect end to an incredible season for Fleetwood if he were to lift the DP World Tour Championship for the first time, claiming both season-ending events across the European and PGA Tour.

The Englishman recently won the DP World India Championship, lost in a playoff last week and is playing some of his best golf in recent memory - so it's just a bonus that he ticks almost every box in my statistical profile for finding winners in Dubai.

Pick Two: Marco Penge (+2000) To Win @ BetMGM

Once again going back to the typical profile of winners here, you are looking for someone who belts it off the tee, hits plenty of GIR and has the tendency to get really hot with the putter.

When you also add into the mix a necessity to capitalise on the par-5s and a suggestion that a strong ranking in the Race To Dubai is a good pointer, all roads lead to Marco Penge.

I was expecting him to get a little closer last week, but a top-10 finish off the back of a third DP World Tour win in Spain is enough to convince me that he could take yet another huge step forward in his exciting career in Dubai this week.

The event is hosted at the Tiger Woods-designed El Cardonal, which is a course we have seen for the past two seasons on the PGA Tour. We therefore have a pretty good idea of what to expect, with a premium placed on making birdies and scoring low.

The last two winners on this track have reached 24- and 27-under-par, but in order to reach these heights players will need to outperform the field in Strokes Gained: Approach and will also require a red hot putter.

Pick One: Garrick Higgo (+2200) To Win @ BetMGM

The big-hitting South African ticks all the boxes this week to rightly be among the favorites to lift the trophy in Mexico.

Higgo was T6 here last year at 17-under-par and arrives in superb form after a T4 at the Baycurrent Classic, solo-2nd at the Sanderson Farms Championship and T7 at the Procore Championship.

Whether he can keep up this play is the question, but if he can then look for him to challenge for his third PGA Tour win and second of the year.

Pick Two: Johnny Keefer (+5000) To Win @ BetMGM

The former Baylor University man has just wrapped up a remarkable season on the Korn Ferry Tour, where he won the Player and Rookie of the Year titles as well as breaking the circuit’s season-season scoring average record.

In his first start with a PGA Tour card I can see him arriving in grand style. Keefer has two wins and two runners-up finishes this year so he has to be looked at.

He has not done much in four career PGA Tour starts but that doesn’t worry me - he is certainly one we’ll be watching a lot of in the coming years.

Pick One: Max Greyserman (+2000) To Win @ BetMGM

There's a lot going for Max Greyserman this week and, at the World Wide Technology Championship, I believe it will be the tournament where he finally claims a PGA Tour victory after several close calls.

Just in 2025 alone, he has two runner-up finishes, including one at his last tournament - the Baycurrent Classic - He also lost out in a playoff at the Rocket Classic in June.

Importantly, the American has course form at El Cardonal at Diamante, finishing solo fourth in 2024 after rounds of 68, 64, 69 and 65, meaning that he will hopefully take confidence into this week.

Pick Two: Nico Echavarria (+3300) To Win @ BetMGM

Like Greyserman, I have opted for someone with good course form and recent form, with the Colombian fitting that bill nicely with some eye-catching odds.

I'm a big fan of Echavarria's, with his all-round game extremely solid.

He has two victories on the PGA Tour, so isn't afraid to win, and looking at his last result at the Baycurrent Classic he squeezed himself into the top 10 for the first time since the Rocket Classic in June.

Finishing T6th in this tournament last year adds to hope that the 31-year-old can make it a hattrick of PGA Tour career wins.

Pick One: Ben Griffin (+1200) To Win @ BetMGM

Unsurprisingly, Griffin is among the leading claims to win this week following the best season of his career so far.

The American Ryder Cup player has won twice and managed eight more top-10s, the most recent of which arrived via a runner-up finish at the Procore Championship in his last start on this side of the world.

His game is the best it's ever been with strokes gained in all areas, especially on the green, and that will be crucial in a tournament which has often turned into a shoot-out.

Although he has managed a best finish of T23rd here, Griffin has never been this complete a player, so I fully expect him to contend this time around.

Pick Two: Garrick Higgo (+2200) To Win @ BetMGM

If you're keen to back a big-hitting, clutch putter who's in great form, look no further than South Africa's Garrick Higgo.

The 26-year-old's past three results on the PGA Tour are T7th, 2nd, T4th for a start, and he managed a T6th at this very event 12 months ago.

Higgo's length off the tee and form with the flat stick should help him compete once more, and with no pressure on his shoulders as a result of a victory at the Corales Puntacana Championship earlier this year, the South African can play confident and free - ingredients which often help when trying to win a tournament.

Pick One: Ben Griffin (+1200) To Win @ BetMGM

I wouldn't usually side with Ben Griffin as the betting favorite in a tournament, especially at this kind of price, but I really do believe he is significantly better than most of the field in his current form.

Griffin has played great on correlating courses, at the FedEx St. Jude and RBC Canadian Open (at Hamilton), but his recent results are also pretty electric.

A runner-up finish on his last start is particularly encouraging, but four further top-12 finishes in the previous four starts adds significant weight to his claim.

Griffin ranks 6th for SG: Approach and SG: Putting, so has the perfect skill set to go low and propel himself to the top of the leaderboard for a third PGA Tour win.

Pick Two: Sami Valimaki (+10000) To Win @ BetMGM

Sami Valimaki might not have any recent form to write home about, but I think he is perfectly suited to this particular test.

He was runner-up at the Mexico Open last year, his best finish on the PGA Tour so far, and also played respectably on correlating track Hamilton Golf and Country Club in 2024.

Outright Winner: Tyrrell Hatton (4pts @ +800 with BetMGM)

Whenever this event comes around, the first name I always check in on is Tyrrell Hatton.

The Englishman was 6th in this event when it first moved to Yas Links, having previously won the tournament at Abu Dhabi Golf Club a year earlier, and was 7th in 2023 in the event's final January running before its move to the current slot.

In 2024, Hatton posted a fantastic score of 22-under-par to eventually finish second - but pushed Waring hard and forced him to go and win it with a couple of holes to play.

That's a win, a runner-up and two top-7 finishes in the last four editions of this tournament, which should be enough on its own to justify his position on the odds board, but I also love his form this season.

A win in Dubai early in the season further demonstrates how he excels in the Middle East, but a solid performance in the Majors and a 5th place finish at Wentworth in September show that he has continued that high level throughout the season.

Hatton was also second behind MacIntyre on his last DP World Tour start, at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, so I can't really find a reason to ignore him on a course that rewards top tier ball striking.

Outright Winner: Matt Fitzpatrick (4pts @ +1600 with BetMGM)

Another Englishman with a fantastic record in this part of the world is Matt Fitzpatrick.

Fitzpatrick has twice won the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, and also has two further top-5 finishes (including a runner-up) in the past four seasons.

The former US Open Champion was also third in this event in 2018, albeit on a different track, and comes into this event in red hot form.

Outside of the Majors, Matt Fitzpatrick has played five DP World Tour events in 2025 and has finished in the top-6 in four of them. The other was a tie for 21st, so not disgraceful by any means, but his PGA Tour form also promises plenty.

Since the US Open in June, Fitzpatrick has accumulated four top-10 finishes and two top-20 finishes in seven starts - so I wouldn't be surprised to see him contend again in an event where there have been many English winners in recent years.

Sleeper and Top-10 Finish Betting Tips

Sleeper: Oliver Lindell (1pt @ +8000 with BetMGM)

Top-10 Finish: Oliver Lindell (1pt with BetMGM)

Oliver Lindell is having quite the end to his debut year on the DP World Tour, banking four top-10 finishes since the end of June.

He had been playing well prior to that, with seven top-25 finishes in the first half of the year, but this could be a great chance to truly put his name on the map of world golf.

On a course that rewards strong approach play and solid ball striking, it's encouraging that Lindell ranks 11th for Strokes Gained: Approach when ranked against the top-150 players in the world over the last three months.

In the DP World Tour season stats, he ranks 8th in the same measure and appears in the top-11 for par-4 scoring average.

His fairly solid short game and accuracy off the tee will support his approach play and give him plenty of chances to climb up the leaderboard, which is why I like him as an outside punt and in the top-10 finish market.

GM Betting Expert Panel: Who Are They Backing?

Matt Fitzpatrick (+1600 with BetMGM)

In terms of consistency, very few players in this field are going better than Matt Fitzpatrick right now. With half of Team Europe as the other likely contenders, I wonder if Fitzpatrick actually stands the best chance.

He has seven top-10s in his past 11 starts and has only been outside of the top-25 once in that time (T32nd FedEx St Jude Championship).

In terms of his record at this event, too, the Englishman has a runner-up and a third place to shout about - although he has also missed the cut in three of his six appearances.

They occurred a long time ago, though, and the data proves his game is in a completely different place now.

With the added length and continued accuracy to boot, Fitzpatrick may be next in line to continue Rory McIlroy's run of near-misses at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.

Marco Penge (+2000 with BetMGM)

The Englishman's odds are surprisingly high this week, given his recent form and the fact he's had some time off from the game following his victory at the Open de Espana.

Sitting second in the Race to Dubai standings, a big week is needed from Marco Penge to keep up with Rory McIlroy but, at a course like Yas Links, it should suit his playing style down to the ground.

He ranks inside the top 10 for driving distance, greens in regulation and putts per GIR on the DP World Tour so, if that doesn't show all-round game, I don't know what does...

Last year I predicted an English winner and, for 2025, I'm going for another one.

Keita Nakajima To Finish In The Top-10

I was very impressed with Nakajima in India, where he challenged Tommy Fleetwood all the way to finish runner-up.

That was only two starts ago so I am backing him to continue that form at a venue where he shot 18-under-par last year to finish T14th.

He is a five-time pro winner and former World No.1, who was victorious in the UAE at the 2021 Asia-Pacific Amateur, so I believe he can easily contend again this week.

Summary: This track is a ball-strikers paradise, but also demands a strategic approach in order to put together a decent score. Undulating fairways, challenging green complexes and 12 water hazards will pose problems for players.

Plenty of players are fighting to retain their status for the 2026 DP World Tour season, while others will be hoping to secure a PGA Tour card, so there will undoubtedly be plenty of jeopardy around this tricky test.

Genesis Championship Betting Picks

Pick One: Keita Nakajima (+2500) To Win @ BetMGM

I loved what I saw from Nakajima last week in India, who put on a phenomenal display of putting to push Tommy Fleetwood the whole way.

Luckily for the Japanese man, there is no Tommy Fleetwood in Korea this week so he should feel like he is one of the favorites for the title.

His 20-under-par total at Delhi GC resulted in his third runner-up finish of the season, so the former World No.1 amateur is surely ready and deserving to pick up a trophy this time round.

Pick Two: Minyu Kim (+8000) To Win @ BetMGM

The young Korean is a two-time winner of the Kolon Korea Open at this very course, Woo Jeong Hills, so he will clearly feel very comfortable this week.

He arrives in good form after a T2 finish last week at The Charity Classic on the KPGA Tour so he is primed to perform well again.

Kim has not won against a field of this quality yet but he does have three Asian Tour wins, a Challenge Tour victory and two EuroPro Tour titles to his name.

He mostly plays in Asia but does have a top-10 on the DP World Tour this season as well as a 2nd-place finish at the KPGA Championship. He offers great value and is definitely worth keeping an eye on in the each-way market.

Pick One: Thriston Lawrence (+2500) To Win @ BetMGM

Since returning from a poor stint on the PGA Tour, Lawrence has re-found some form that includes a win at the Omega European Masters and a T3rd at last week's DP World India Championship.

He has thrown in a few missed cuts here and there but, on a course that requires a good all-round game, I believe the South African has what it takes to tame Woo Jeong Hills Country Club.

Packing distance off the tee, as well as strong putting stats, Lawrence looks set to have another good week ahead of a busy period where he will want to regain a PGA Tour card.

Pick Two: Sadom Kaewkanjana (+6600) To Win @ BetMGM

Given Kaewkanjana won at this course on the Asian Tour back in May, it seems almost silly not to select him this time around, given that he was the only player to shoot four rounds under-par claiming the Korea Open by two strokes.

It's not as if his results have dropped off since then either. In his last four starts he has finished no lower than T8th, claiming a T4th at last week's Japan Open and a T3rd at the Jakarta International Championship the week before.

He's in excellent form, won here five months ago and is an absolute steal looking at his odds.

Pick One: Thriston Lawrence (+2500) To Win @ BetMGM

While I'd like to back the man I successfully chose this time last year, Byeong Hun An, I think a slightly different style of course 12 months on might not help his cause.

In his place, Thriston Lawrence will hopefully make it two wins from two for me at this tournament.

The big-hitting South African has the power to tame Woo Jeong Hills and his recent stats suggest his approach game is as good as it's been for a long time.

Although his short game could be in a better place, Lawrence's best performances have come when the putter is tuned in, and I'm hoping Korea can be one of those places after a confidence-boosting top-10 in India last time out.

Pick Two: Elvis Smylie (+5000) To Win @ BetMGM

Smylie possesses that sought-after combination of power and accuracy which could really set him apart from the competition in Korea this week.

Winner of the Australian Open almost a year ago, the left-hander has racked up a handful of top-10s since and is within touching distance of a PGA Tour card for next year.

With a course that could suit his game and the alluring pull of a PGA Tour card on the line, I can see Smylie putting himself in contention come Sunday.

Pick One: Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen (+1400) To Win @ BetMGM

Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen is a player that I believe should certainly have won on the DP World Tour by now, considering his immense talent and promise, but I believe that's why the bookies are giving him plenty of respect this week.

He was runner-up in Qatar earlier in the season, but also finished in the top-5 on two further occasions including last time out in Spain.

Three other top-10 finishes and a handful of top-20s demonstrate his ability to contend at this level, and I believe he will be disappointed not to have got over the line by the end of the season with just a few events remaining.

Neergaard-Petersen was 14th in Korea last season, albeit on a different track, but is a long, accurate hitter of the ball who hits his fair share of greens in regulation - which could be a winning formula this week.

Pick Two: Keita Nakajima (+2500) To Win @ BetMGM

Keita Nakajima played some incredible golf last week in India, so will perhaps feel a little unlucky to have run into a red hot Tommy Fleetwood.

That performance earned him his third runner-up finish of the season, and it's one of those performances in particular that caught my eye.

I can see there being some correlation between the Singapore Classic and this event, so considering Nakajima was runner-up at Laguna National (and close last week) I can't ignore him on a course where accuracy off the tee and on approach will be important.

For those of you who also read our comprehensive guide to the best sleepers bets, I'm sure you will be feeling extra pleased today thanks to a couple of top-10 finishes at big prices.

Still despite a very profitable week for the team, there is no time to rest. In this column, I switch my attention back to PGA Tour action and assess the field for the Bank of Utah Championship.

Below, I outline my best bets for the week and ask the esteemed panel of betting experts at Golf Monthly HQ for their respected opinion, in order to give you the best chance of finding a winner...

Bank Of Utah Championship Betting Tips

This is a course that we have seen before, at the Black Desert Championship in 2024, so we sort of know what to expect - albeit with limited information.

I expect the winning score to be a low one, in similar fashion to the event held here last year, so finding someone who can get hot and produce a ton of birdies (or better) is going to be important.

Seven of the top-10 on the leaderboard last year shot a round of 63 or better, so I am placing plenty of emphasis on those that rank well in certain scoring measures and those that can set up plenty of birdie opportunities with a wedge or short iron in hand.

Bank of Utah Championship: Course Information

Black Desert Resort, Utah

Par Score: 71

Yardage: 7,412 yards

Grass: Bentgrass (fairways, rough and greens)

Summary: This Tom Weiskopf design is a unique track, featuring a desert landscape that contrasts with the lush green fairways. Black lava flows and red cliffs surround the course, providing a stunning backdrop, but their beauty can hide a rather dangerous natural hazard for wayward shots.

In typical Weiskopf fashion, there are short, drivable par-4s and a subtle nod to Royal Troon, where Weiskopf won the Open Championship in 1973, with the 'postage stamp' inspired par-3 17th hole.

Outright Winner Betting Tips

Outright Winner: Michael Thorbjornsen (3pts @ +1800 with BetMGM)

Michael Thorbjornsen is one of the most exciting young talents on the PGA Tour at the moment and he is certainly taking full advantage of the fall series to showcase his potential.

Thorbjornsen has shown flashes of brilliance through the early stage of his professional career on the PGA Tour, with a 4th place finish at the Travelers in 2022 and a runner-up finish at the John Deere Classic in 2024.

Fast forward to this season and Thorbjornsen has been at it again, with a runner-up finish at the Corales Puntacana Championship and a 3rd place finish in Japan last time out.

In fact, he seems to have done everything but win and I can't see that being the case for much longer - especially when this week's course suits his game perfectly.

He is a long but also relatively accurate driver of the ball, ranks 1st for greens in regulation this season and has incredible scoring power.

Thorbjornsen ranks 7th for birdie average, 5th for total eagles and shot a 64 to close on hist most recent outing. If he brings his best this week, it could be the moment he finally breaks his PGA Tour duck.

Outright Winner: Kurt Kitayama (3pts @ +2200 with BetMGM)

Kurt Kitayama secured his second career PGA Tour title a few starts back, winning the 3M Open, and I can see him clocking up the hat-trick in Utah this week.

A T9 and T19 finish in the FedEx Cup Playoff events at the end of the 2025 season were impressive displays considering the field strength, so I'll forgive him an average performance last week as he shakes off a bit of rust from a short break.

This tournament should be one he can capitalise on, with a skillset that closely matches my formula for finding a winner.

A T25 finish last year will give him so valuable course experience to draw upon and his scoring power will also produce opportunities for a low round or two.

This season he ranks 13th for birdie average, 7th for total eagles and 7th for scoring average, so ticks a lot of boxes on a course that demands aggressive play.

Kitayama shot an incredible round of 60 on his way to winning the 3M Open, so I have no doubts about his ability to get hot and lead from the front.

Sleeper and Top-10 Finish Betting Tips

Sleeper: Taylor Montgomery (1pt @ +6600 with BetMGM)

Taylor Montgomery is another player who fits this profile, but at a significantly greater value price. He is another player looking for a first win on the PGA Tour, but his recent form suggests he is trending in the right direction.

Three top-12 finishes in his last five events, including when tied 6th last time out, demonstrate he has shaken the mid-season form that saw him miss seven cuts in a row.

It's also encouraging to see that Montgomery has shot a 63 twice in his last three tournaments, but it shouldn't come as a surprise consider his performance data.

Montgomery ranks 2nd on tour for SG: Putting, 12th for scrambling and 5th for birdie average this season, so has plenty of scoring power and can rely on his excellent short game to compete in what will surely be another birdie-fest.

For a little extra insurance, I will also be having him as a top-10 finish bet (once the prices for that market are released).

GM Betting Expert Panel: Who Are They Backing?

Michael Thorbjornsen (+1800 with BetMGM)

Thorbjornsen has been in a really nice run of form since the PGA Championship with two top-10s and three top-25s in eight appearances.

He is capable of sending it a long way off the tee and has gained strokes on the field in terms of his approach game far more often than not this term.

A steady short-game performance this week should allow him to contend and hopefully pick up a first PGA Tour win.

His WD here last year arrived after a first-round 67, so providing he can stay healthy, Thorbjornsen could well be on the first page of the leaderboard come Sunday

Lee Hodges (+6000 with BetMGM)

Looking at the field, there are several names that could be holding the trophy by the end of the week, which is why I'm looking at what players are offering the best value.

This has landed me on Lee Hodges, who finished this event in T8th last year after firing four under-par rounds at the Black Desert Resort.

Although he missed three straight cuts at the end of the regulation PGA Tour season, he has placed both times this FedEx Cup Fall, which he will want to continue as he sits 109th in the standings.

He needs a big week to keep his card, which is why I think he'll step up and put on a strong showing in Utah.

Thorbjorn Olesen (+3000 with BetMGM)

Olesen is a stalwart of the DP World Tour with eight career victories and he arrives in Utah in good form after four top-20s in his last five starts including a T9 last time out at the Spanish Open and a T14 at the Sanderson Farms Championship.

The Dane needs to keep his foot down to retain his card as he currently sits 116th in the FedEx Cup standings, with only the top 100 keeping full status. I would not be surprised to see him challenging on the first page come Sunday afternoon.

DP World India Championship 2025: Our Expert Sleeper Tips

Jayden Schaper (+4500 with BetMGM)

The South African has often been a favorite pick of mine when it comes to sleepers, and he's rarely let me down.

I'm going for him again this week because I think his form is trending in the right direction and he seems to do well on the shorter and tighter courses, as a rule.

Aside from a MC in India earlier this year, Schaper has finished fourth in Kenya, T9th at the Joburg Open and ninth at the Open de France.

There have been a few surprise misses in there, too, but I think his confidence from a T5th in Spain last time out should hopefully see Schaper make good decisions and emerge with another top-10.

Adrien Saddier (+5500 with BetMGM)

Saddier is another who should enjoy this second Indian test of the season, especially given he was fifth at DLF Golf and Country Club back in March.

The Frenchman's game is solid overall and he has largely performed well of late - aside from a tough week on the links in Scotland.

Plus, his results on similar courses are encouraging with a T7th in Kenya, a T19th at the Joburg Open, a win at the Italian Open and a second at the BMW PGA Championship.

The latter more proves he is capable of mixing it with the big names, which will be important in this star-studded field.

Anirban Lahiri (+3300 with BetMGM)

Claiming the Hero Indian Open on this course back in 2015, as well as finishing runner-up in 2016, home hero Anirban Lahiri is certainly one to keep an eye on, especially at generous odds given his history with this layout.

The only slight worry I have is the lack of competitive reps, with Lahiri not featuring since LIV Golf's Team Championship in August; However, returning to a venue he likes, and with the home fans behind him, I'm hoping he can carry on a good 2025 that includes a runner-up finish on the LIV Golf League.

Darius Van Driel (+10000 with BetMGM)

Having not missed a cut since the Irish Open, Darius Van Driel has been going about his business nicely, producing a top 25 at the BMW PGA Championship and Open de Espana, as well as a T10th at the FedEx Open de France.

It's that result that is giving me hope for this week, as Delhi Golf Club shares plenty of characteristics with that of the French Open venue, with the short and tight layout putting accuracy over distance.

Van Driel ranks 24th in driving accuracy and, with his approach play and putting starting to fire over the past month, he looks at good odds to have another strong week.

Jayden Schaper (+4500 with BetMGM)

Jayden Schaper has been going along nicely over the course of the 2025 season, currently ranking in the top-25 on the Race to Dubai and going close to a first DP World Tour title.

Two top-10 finishes in his last three starts indicate how well he is playing at the moment, while a 4th place finish in Kenya earlier in the season is particularly encouraging.

Schaper also ranks in the top-25 for driving accuracy, Strokes Gained: Approach and in the top-15 for SG: Around The Green, so fits the bill perfectly.

At a reasonable price, I wouldn't put anyone off having a punt on him this week.

Alex Fitzpatrick (+10000 with BetMGM)

Alex Fitzpatrick might not be at the top of your betting card, but I would argue he should certainly feature on it.

His form of late has been patchy, but a T9 finish at the Open De Espana last week caught my eye and sent me down a bit of a rabbit hole.

Fitzpatrick plays tight, tree-lined tracks particularly well - as evidenced by his form on correlating tracks in the past two years.

He was 11th at the Soudal Open in 2025, plus inside the top-20 in Kenya, Switzerland and at the Czech Masters in 2024. Positive form at the Turkish Open also ticks a correlation box for me, so the form certainly stacks up.

He was 17th in India earlier this season, and 5th at a Challenge Tour event in Delhi last season, so has plenty of positives to lean on and he could be a dark horse in this packed field.

There are a host of big names playing in the DP World India Championship, including Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry, Viktor Hovland and Tommy Fleetwood, but there is also plenty of value to be found further down the board with some saucy sleepers picks.

Rory McIlroy will make his first ever appearance in India at Delhi Golf Club, which I will analyse further throughout this preview. We haven't seen much of this track for almost a decade, but there is some historic form that at least points us in the right direction.

Unearthing trends may be tricky, but nevertheless our expert Baz is up to the task and he has even enlisted the assistance of the top betting brains at Golf Monthly HQ to make this the most comprehensive 'Bazza's Best Bets' column yet...

DP World India Championship Betting Tips

A sensible place to start our deep dive is looking at recent tournament leaderboards, performances and the statistical profile of winners at Delhi Golf Club (and other tour events in India).

The Indian Open was last held here in 2016, and the Indian Masters visited in 2008, so it would be hard to glean any significantly helpful information from those examples.

There have been a series of tour events in India over the last few years, including the Indian Open, the International Series India and Challenge Tour events (sometimes two) for the past few seasons.

I'll be taking all of that into consideration, albeit with a small weighting on my overall decision, and I would advise anyone scoping out their picks this week to do the same.

Par Score: 72

Yardage: 6,912 yards

Summary: Re-designed by Gary Player Design in 2019, this Delhi Golf Club is a short, tree-lined tight track with complex tiered greens and a requirement for a strategic golfing brain.

While a consistent and creative short game will no doubt be important here, you also need to put the ball in the fairway. Some of the bigger hitters might fancy themselves to take this test on, but big numbers are possible for those who don't appropriately factor in the risk.

Outright Winner Betting Tips

Outright Winner: Tommy Fleetwood (4pts @ +650 with BetMGM)

Tommy Fleetwood is in scintillating form right now, winning the 2025 Tour Championship as well as securing three other top-5 finishes in his last eight events.

When you add into the mix a Ryder Cup win, a highest ever rank in the Official World Golf Rankings (5th) and a proven ability to win worldwide... it's easy to see why I fancy him this week.

When you compare him to some of the other market leaders, he appeals most in my opinion.

I recently wrote a piece asking what's next for Rory McIlroy, in which I said I was concerned about the toll the Ryder Cup may have taken on him.

Shane Lowry fits the bill but is frustratingly inconsistent and I'm not ready to take a chance on Viktor Hovland following the injury at Bethpage Black.

That leaves Tommy, who ranks 7th for driving accuracy, 18th for Strokes Gained: Approach and 5th for SG: Putting in the last three months.

He has played this course before, which will be an advantage, but I am also banking on the Englishman riding a pretty sizeable wave of confidence to claim an 8th DP World Tour title.

Outright Win: John Parry (1pt @ +3000 with BetMGM)

John Parry is the sort of player that is always on my radar at a course such as this, mainly because his form on correlating tracks has been very positive in recent years.

In 2025 alone, Parry has been 4th at the Soudal Open and 2nd in Kenya - both of which are played on tight, tree-lined tracks that require consistently strong and accurate ball striking.

Parry also won a Challenge Tour event in Delhi in 2024, showing an ability to play well in this part of the world, and also has a top-20 finish at this very course after playing in the 2015 Indian Open.

The Englishman ranks 3rd for SG: Approach on the DP World Tour this season and sits 14th for SG: Total - highlighting the strength of his golf in 2025.

Parry has finished in the top-3 six times in the last twelve months, including a win in Mauritius and a 3rd place at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship just two starts ago, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him go close once again.

In fact, I like him so much that I am putting the same name up in the top-10 finish market. Come on, John.

Outright Win: Anirban Lahiri (1pt @ +3300 with BetMGM)

Anirban Lahiri had a pretty impressive year on LIV Golf in 2025, finishing around the middle of the pack in the individual standings with a few particular highlights.

He was second in Virginia and also posted top-12 finishes in Riyadh, Adelaide and Dallas.

In terms of the stats, Lahiri ranked 17th for driving accuracy, 16th for scrambling and 12th for putting average - all of which will be important here.

Lahiri won the Indian Open in 2015 and was runner-up in 2016, both at Delhi Golf Club, which should be a huge advantage against a field where previous experience at the track is limited or non-existent.

Similarly to Parry, I am very excited about Lahiri's chances - so he also gets the double tip treatment in this week's card.

GM Betting Expert Panel: Who Are They Backing?

Tommy Fleetwood (+650 with BetMGM)

Following another stellar Ryder Cup performance from Tommy Fleetwood, his next start was always going to be a little underwhelming.

A T21st at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship was hardly disastrous, though, and spoke more to exhaustion than a lack of quality. With another week of rest and recuperation since, I'm backing Fleetwood to come out and set himself up for a good run in the Playoffs via a win in India.

Delhi GC is a short and reasonably tight course, so Fleetwood's mix of power and accuracy off the tee plus his prowess on the green should combine for a winning recipe.

Michael Kim (+2800 with BetMGM)

On a course that measures on the shorter side, I personally think it should bring the field closer together, making approach play and short game imperative, which is why I've gone with Michael Kim.

Kim is not just showing great form, but also a game that matches Delhi Golf Club's layout.

Kim's strengths lie in SG: Approach the Green and Around the Green, with the American's win at the FedEx Open de France coming at a course which is similar to this week's venue.

Having finally got over the line to claim victory for the first time in seven years, I'm hoping this new found confidence continues, and Kim keeps to his plan to take apart Delhi Golf Club.

A thrilling play-off last year, between eventual winner Angel Hidalgo and tournament favourite Jon Rahm, made this one of the more exciting events on the calendar - with a trio of Spaniards securing the top three spots on the leaderboard.

There are seven LIV Golfers in the field this week, including two-time champion Jon Rahm, so there is plenty of talent to sift through in order to find the winner.

Open De Espana: Course Information

Club de Campo Villa de Madrid is a par-71 track and is relatively short in length, measuring a shade of 7,100 yards.

We have seen plenty of the tree-lined course over the years, so can be pretty certain about what to expect with elevation changes, undulating terrain and small greens.

Taking advantage of the par-5s will be key around here, with low scores and plenty of birdies required throughout the card to take home the title on Sunday.

Open De Espana Betting Picks

Pick One: David Puig (+1800) To Win @ BetMGM

The LIV prospect has all the makings of a future star and this could be a breakout week for him in a career that already includes two Asian Tour titles.

The Spaniard was T3 here last year and should hopefully contend again on home soil after a T50 at the Dunhill last time out in very different conditions.

Puig has had a brilliant season on LIV Golf, where he was inside the top-20 in every event to place 10th in the season standings, which came after 3rd and T4th finishes in Ras Al Khaimah and Bahrain on the DP World Tour.

Pick Two: Kristoffer Reitan (+2800) To Win @ BetMGM

The Norwegian has been one of the standout players this year on the DP World Tour and he carries great form into the Spanish Open, so I’m picking him to contend once again.

Reitan was T5 at both the Dunhill Links and French Open in his last two starts and has proven pedigree in his rookie season with a win at the Soudal Open. He is set for the PGA Tour next year after eight top-10s in 2025 so far.

Pick One: David Puig (+1800) To Win @ BetMGM

The heavy favorite is Rahm, which is understandable given his incredible record in this event, and the fact he's coming off the back of a winning Ryder Cup where, once again, he played a pivotal part.

For this week, though, I'm opting for David Puig, due to the fact that the Spaniard claimed a T3 at this event last season, that included a disappointing level-par final round.

Having the home crowd behind him, the 23-year-old will be hungry for a win on home soil and to turn his season around following a T50 at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship last week.

Pick Two: Jayden Schaper (+6600) To Win @ BetMGM

I've tried to look for value with my second pick and, after potentially going with Sergio Garcia, I have instead gone for South Africa's Jayden Schaper - who has a tendency to throw in a strong result, given the fact he's finished 9th, T10th, 3rd and T5th in his last 10 starts.

Last year, he finished solo ninth at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid and, had it not been for a four-over-par 75 first round, he could have potentially challenged for the victory.

He's in good form and possesses some nice results in Madrid, so I think he stands at good odds for this week.

Pick One: Jon Rahm (+300) To Win @ BetMGM

If I've said it once, I've said it 1,000 times - three times a little is better than 3,000 times nothing.

And if Jon Rahm does what everyone expects him to this week, you will triple your stake.

The Spaniard has won this tournament three times in six starts before, including twice at this very golf course, and his other three appearances read T17th, T9th and second (lost in a playoff).

Rahm looked in imperious touch during the Ryder Cup and I fully expect him to come out firing again this week. Barring something extraordinary, I can only see one winner.

Pick Two: Todd Clements (+6600) To Win @ BetMGM

As far as a potential sleeper pick goes, Todd Clements might not be the worst option out there.

The Englishman is coming off T10th and T15th results in his two most recent starts and does appear to enjoy his time at the Open de España, if past results are anything to go by.

In 2023, he finished T35th despite losing almost a stroke off the tee while he managed T13th last year despite losing 0.59 strokes on the green.

If it all comes together across four days in Madrid, Clements could become Rahm's surprise challenger or at least bag himself a top-10.

Pick One: Jon Rahm (+300) To Win @ BetMGM

I have to agree with Jonny here. If it looks like a duck, moves like a duck and sounds like a duck... chances are it's a duck.

Or, in this case, if it looks like a three-time champion, swings the golf club like a serial contender in this competition and arrives fresh off the back of a monumental Ryder Cup win... it's probably the Jon Rahm (and you should definitely side with him).

There isn't much more I can add to Jonny's analysis, other than the fact he ranks 1st for Strokes Gained (SG): Tee to green, SG: Around the green and SG: Total in this field. Hate the price... love the pick!

Pick Two: Angel Ayora (+3300) To Win @ BetMGM

Like I said, Jon Rahm wins this in my opinion. However, if pressed for a second pick, I also wouldn't be surprised to see a strong performance from Angel Ayora.

The young Spaniard has been a little erratic in terms of performances in his debut DP World Tour season, which is to be expected, but his talent is undeniable.

He appears to have settled slightly better in the last ten events, banking four top-10 finishes including three in his last five. He finished T5 in Scotland last week, has the benefit of being a long but accurate driver of the golf ball and will attract some home support this week - so there is plenty to like.

Golf Monthly Betting Picks: Wins In 2025

This event has a new look to it, replacing the familiar favourite ZOZO Championship as the PGA Tour's annual trip to Japan, and with a new venue we are going to have to work extra hard to make sense of the data.

With a number of notable names in the field at the Baycurrent Classic, even despite Tony Finau's withdrawal, there is plenty of top tier talent to pick from.

Zoysia grass is used in the fairways and rough, which will certainly test players ability to adapt, as this blend is only sporadically seen on the PGA Tour.

Outright Winner Betting Tips

Outright Winner: Alex Noren (3pts @ +1600 with BetMGM)

Alex Noren has been playing frighteningly good golf of late, winning in two of his last three starts.

The most recent came in his last appearance, when winning the BMW PGA Championship hours before heading out to join Luke Donald's leadership team at the Ryder Cup.

While he will have surely been disappointed that his run of excellent form came too late to warrant a captain's pick, Noren will almost certainly be buoyed by Team Europe's incredible performance and historic victory in New York.

Now, following three incredibly positive experiences in September, he returns to PGA Tour action at a course which suits him perfectly.

A premium on accuracy and great ball striking at Yokohama Country Club aligns seamlessly with Noren ranking 17th for driving accuracy and 12th for Strokes Gained: Tee to green in this field (last 12 months data).

While he is one of the favourites in the market, with a price a littler shorter than I'd like, I feel he warrants being there and I'd kick myself if I missed out as all signs point to the Swedish star.

Rasmus Hojgaard is another player who will be riding a wave of positivity following Team Europe's Ryder Cup win at the end of September, despite not scoring a point himself individually.

He returned to PGA Tour action impressively last week, finishing tied-3rd at the Sanderson Farms Championship, which was actually his third top-3 finish in his last five starts.

That result helped Hojgaard secure his PGA Tour card for another season, so he can play freely as he hunts a first tour win.

Hojgaard has won, contended and flourished on courses all around the world thanks to his time on the DP World Tour, which should also stand him in good stead as the field heads to an unfamiliar venue.

His recent strong form has seen an upturn in his accuracy off the tee, which will be important here for a player who typically favours tracks that reward length.

Hojgaard ranks 13th for SG: Approach and 4th for SG: Putting in the last three months, so has all the tools to claim a first PGA Tour win this week.

Sleeper Betting Tips

Sleeper: Gary Woodland (1pt @ +5000 with BetMGM)

Gary Woodland, in contrast to the elation experienced by Noren and Hojgaard, will naturally have hoped for better as part of Keegan Bradley's leadership team at Bethpage Black.

He can, however, use that disappointment as fuel for his own Ryder Cup charge and will no doubt be targeting qualification for the 2027 tournament in Ireland.

Prior to the Ryder Cup, Woodland was in a pretty decent run of form.

Three consecutive top-23 finishes is a marked improvement on recent efforts, with much better consistency after achieving just one top-20 finish since he was runner-up in Texas earlier in the season.

In the last 3 months, Woodland ranks 23rd for driving accuracy, 12 for SG: Approach and 8th for SG: putting (in this field), suggesting he is trending the right direction.

I believe he is coming into this event under the radar, but I am willing to back him with a small stake in the hope things click at Yokohama Country Club.

Top-10 Finish Betting Tips

Top-10 Finish: Michael Kim (4pts @ +300 with BetMGM)

Michael Kim surged to victory on the final day of the Open De France a couple of weeks ago, which was an event held on another track that was fiddly and tight in places.

Kim has actually played some great golf this year, finishing in the top-10 on four occasions on the PGA Tour including at the second FedEx Cup Playoff event, the BMW Championship.

Kim is reasonably accurate off the tee, ranks 6th for SG: Approach in the last three months and has recent winning form - so I can see him banking another top-10 finish as momentum continues to build.

Who Else Is The GM Betting Panel Backing?

Alex Noren (+1600 with BetMGM)

At a new course that no one has played, recent form may count for plenty, so I'm selecting Alex Noren as he is arguably the most in-form player in this limited field.

Noren won two of his past three starts and was inside the top-10 in the couple before that as well.

Plus, the Swede has performed reasonably well in Japan previously, picking up two top-20s at the Zozo Championship in 2021 and 2022.

His accuracy-over-power style will hopefully lend itself nicely to this shorter course and Noren might be able to give himself a run at a third title in quick succession.

Emiliano Grillo (+4500 with BetMGM)

When I checked out Grillo's past performances in Japan, it's fair to say I was quite surprised.

A couple of underwhelming display in his first two cracks behind him, the Argentinian then went solo fourth and T10th thereafter.

Another player whose talents lie in accuracy over power, Grillo returned from a break post-FedEx Cup Playoffs with a T4th at the Procore Championship prior to a MC last time out.

But with cut pressure absent this week, I'm hopeful Grillo will continue his strong run in the land of the rising sun.

The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is one of the most eagerly anticipated tournaments of the year by both players and fans, with the European Ryder Cup stars involved this week likely to receive a hero's welcome when they tee it up at St Andrews' Old Course, Kingsbarns and Carnoustie.

As well as a handful of Luke Donald's victorious dozen, there are plenty of well-known faces from the PGA Tour and LIV Golf mixing in with the DP World Tour's best and brightest, so we're sure for a high-quality and entertaining four days.

While the likes of Tommy Fleetwood, Robert MacIntyre, Matt Fitzpatrick and three-time champion, Tyrrell Hatton are sure to receive most of the backing with sportsbooks and tipsters, the competitive nature of the top-20 would suggest that there is plenty of value to be found further down the list.

Many of the past champions have been bigger names with smaller prices, however, the list of runners up has regularly featured no shortage of surprise faces with huge odds beside them. For example, in 2024, Nicolas Colsaerts began with odds well over +10000 and only missed out by a stroke to Hatton.

Meanwhile, there are at least two Major champions with starting prices of more than +5000, per BetMGM, in Dustin Johnson and Bubba Watson.

Oliver Lindell +6000 To Win (+450 Top-10) @ BetMGM

Lindell is not a household name yet but he is one of the most in-form players on the DP World Tour this season with four top-10s, three of which have been in his last five starts among T13th and T17th finishes.

The HotelPlanner Tour graduate had ten top-10s on the DPWT feeder circuit last year, including three runner-ups, so he’s definitely one to look out for. He could well be a DP World Tour winner before the year is up, so I’m picking him to continue this run for at least another top-10 this week.

Elvis Smylie +8000 To Win (+600 Top-10) @ BetMGM

The left-handed Australian was second in his last start at the French Open after a final-round 65 to continue his best ever season. The 23-year-old beat Cameron Smith by two in November to win the Australian PGA Championship and is now well in the running for one of the ten PGA Tour cards on offer to DP World Tour members.

Smylie was also sixth recently at the Danish Golf Championship so is clearly carrying some very good form. I like his chances for a top-10 this week or even better.

Elvis Smylie +8000 To Win (+600 Top-10) @ BetMGM

The Australian has been getting better and better in 2025, with a runner-up finish at the FedEx Open de France showcasing where his game is right now. Over the final round, he looked in control of his swing and played superbly.

It's no secret that Smylie has performed well on links layouts either, registering a T31st at the Nexo Championship and a T34th at the Genesis Scottish Open. His all-round stats make for good reading, which is why I believe he has what it takes to claim another strong finish this time around.

Marcus Armitage +10000 To Win (+700 Top-10) @ BetMGM

I backed the Englishman at the BMW PGA Championship and, although he missed the cut there, he went on to finish T5th at the Open de France the week after, showing me that his game was there and that Wentworth was a blip.

Considering he has re-found some form, and has finished runner-up at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in 2023, I can't quite believe Armitage's odds are so high this week. It's not as if the second-place finish on the links was a fluke either, as the 38-year-old has previously finished T7th at the Scottish Challenge a few years ago.

Oliver Lindell +6000 To Win (+450 Top-10) @ BetMGM

To do well at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, it doesn't always pay to be long off the tee, but it definitely helps if your short game is razor sharp. That very much applies to the in-form Finn, Oliver Lindell - who has been in the green in relation to SG: Putting at each of his past eight events.

In addition to that, his chipping is solid and his approach game is excellent, with 10 out of his past 11 starts seeing strokes gained.

But, perhaps most importantly, Lindell has a good track record in links golf. He finished T28th at The Open earlier this year after taking the final spot at West Lancs and was T7th at the Nexo Championship, so he's perfectly capable of another top-10 this week.

Caleb Surratt +10000 To Win (+700 Top-10) @ BetMGM

Picking sleepers with a genuine chance this week feels tough, but I think someone who could be worth looking at is Caleb Surratt. The LIV golfer enjoyed an encouraging end to the season with his parent circuit and showed plenty of signs at this event last year, despite missing the cut.

His lack of Sunday action was all down to one horrible round at Carnoustie, with his stats otherwise showing real prowess on the greens and with the driver. A much more complete player than this time last year, Surratt could break into the top-10 if the draw falls his way.

One of the more recognized events on the DP World Tour calendar, the tournament takes place over three of Scotland's best courses - St Andrews Old Course, Kingsbarns and Carnoustie - with Sunday's final round concluding back at the Old Course.

Despite a mentally and physically draining week at Bethpage Black, four of Team Europe's winning side make their way over the pond for the event, as defending champion Tyrrell Hatton, Tommy Fleetwood, Matt Fitzpatrick and Robert MacIntyre feature.

Looking to improve on his incredible record at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, Hatton will search for a fourth title, having won in 2016, 2017 and 2024.

He is among the favorites, as are multiple players from the LIV Golf League, with a total of 16 teeing it up in the event from the circuit. Among them include Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson, Cameron Smith and many more.

The Englishman has been one of the emerging players this year thanks to his consistency and exceptional putting, and he looks a good one to back for links golf considering it is the style he grew up playing at West Cornwall GC.

Hall was solid at both the Scottish Open and The Open this year, so I am not too worried about his missed cut in France last time out on a very different course. He has only played in this tournament once, back in 2019, when he was T15th after shooting a final round of 65.

Pick Two: Brooks Koepka +2800 To Win @ BetMGM

Brooks Koepka clearly found something with his game at the French Open, where he challenged all weekend and finished 4th after three consecutive missed cuts, so I’m backing him to keep it up this week at an event he loves.

He has not been outside the top-10 in his last four starts in this tournament, including a T2 in 2015, with his three top-six finishes in The Open through the years clearly showing his game translates well to this style of golf. The LIV star also has a victory in Scotland from back in his Challenge Tour days so it would be a nice story to see him win in the country again.

Pick One: Tom McKibbin +3300 To Win @ BetMGM

Securing a T20 finish at the Amgen Irish Open, Tom McKibbin then claimed a T11 result at the BMW PGA Championship, firing a final round 66 to produce yet another fine result in 2025.

The 22-year-old is really finding his feet and, at an event where low scoring is needed, I think it will suit McKibbin's game nicely, given he has a good scoring average and, according to Data Golf, ranks above average in all the key metrics. He's due a big win, so why not in Scotland this week?

Pick Two: Joakim Lagergren +5000 To Win @ BetMGM

In a field featuring plenty of quality, I feel Joakim Lagergren is being overlooked at these odds, especially when you notice he has a runner-up finish and a T8 result in his last four starts.

What's more, he has previous form in this tournament, finishing runner-up in 2021, just two strokes back of Danny Willett. That, combined with a T31 finish at the NEXO Championship, despite opening with a 77 at Trump International Golf Links, shows me that he is offering good value this week.

Pick One: Marco Penge +1600 To Win @ BetMGM

I'm hesitant to pick any of the Ryder Cup players this week as I just think they will be emotionally and physically exhausted after the battle at Bethpage, so I'm looking elsewhere with my picks.

The obvious choice is Marco Penge, with the Englishman in excellent form this year and capable of ripping the ball miles off the tee. His form at the Scottish Open (2nd) is an indicator that he enjoys links golf, even if a missed cut at The Open suggests otherwise. As the celebrations no doubt continue from New York, I believe another European will reign supreme in Scotland.

Pick Two: Harry Hall +2000 To Win @ BetMGM

Following a well-deserved rest to recover from the disappointment of being overlooked for Team Europe's Ryder Cup roster, I think Hall will come out firing once again on a style of golf that he very much enjoys.

Two top-25s at the Scottish Open and Open Championship are evidence of that, with an excellent showing in Open Final Qualifying further proof that the Cornishman excels on links golf courses. His stellar putting can only serve to help him this week, where low scores are almost a necessity to stand any chance of winning.

Favorite: Michael Thorbjornsen +2200 To Win @ BetMGM

The former Stanford star has not quite made the splash on the PGA Tour like we thought he would, but he has proved his quality a number of times with two runners-up finishes on Tour and five top-fives.

He is one of the best players in the field this week and has some good form after a T13th last time out. He clearly likes the Country Club of Jackson after finishing T8th last year at 19-under-par, so I think he has a good shot of contending for the title come Sunday.

Sleeper: Harry Higgs +10000 To Win @ BetMGM

The popular American is one of a number of PGA Tour players fighting for their future this week after a disappointing season, so he should be very motivated to play well. He missed the cut by a single stroke last time out at the Procore, where his impressive 68 in round two was not enough to made amends for a poor opening 76.

He was brilliant with the driver and putter statistically but his irons really let him down, so hopefully that has been worked on. Higgs was T2nd in Myrtle Beach earlier this season and won twice on the Korn Ferry Tour last year so there is great golf in him.

The Australian comes into the Sanderson Farms Championship off the back of two excellent performances in Europe, claiming a T11th at the BMW PGA Championship, as well as a T5th at the FedEx Open de France, a tournament he could have won after a poor back nine on Sunday.

For this week, The Country Club of Jackson should suit Lee's game, with length off the tee a premium on a course that boasts several long par 4s and 5s. The only slight negative is that, although Lee is long off the tee, his accuracy can waver.

However, when he produced strong results over the fortnight period, both his driving and approach play have been on form, which tells me he's trending nicely.

Sleeper: Ben Kohles +8000 To Win @ BetMGM

In his last five starts, Kohles has produced a T8th finish at the ISCO Championship, a T20th at the 3M Open and a T26th result at the Procore Championship, which featured several US Ryder Cuppers in the field.

He's playing solidly and, stats-wise, ranks second in terms of greens in regulation and third in driving accuracy percentage. Admittedly, he isn't the longest player, but if the American can get the putter firing, which he has done recently, I'm certain Kohles could sneak inside the top-10 during a period where strong results are needed in terms of his FedEx Cup Fall standing.

Favorite: Michael Thorbjornsen +2200 To Win @ BetMGM

The winner of the Sanderson Farms Championship, since it moved to The Country Club of Jackson, has often been someone who is capable of ripping the golf ball miles off the tee and has enjoyed a good putting week.

Someone who naturally falls into both of those categories is Michael Thorbjornsen. The young American hits the ball a country mile and is often proficient with the flat stick. Add in his top-10 on debut here last year and I think he has a great chance of performing even better in this wide-open field.

Sleeper: Max Homa +4000 To Win @ BetMGM

Admittedly, Homa is not exactly the sleepiest of sleepers, but he has not been anywhere near the level he expects to be this season and his odds belie that fact.

The former Ryder Cup player will hopefully have been inspired by watching the action at Bethpage from afar last week and be motivated to go and sort his immediate PGA Tour future out as soon as possible.

A long and accurate driver who is better on the greens that most people give him credit for, Homa could enjoy a much-needed top-10 at the Sanderson Farms Championship, I believe.

Shock! I am going for Europe to lead after day one.

I can't say it enough, I fully expect the European Team to start fast and push back against what will be a vocal home crowd.

The experience in the European team is on a different scale to that of the American side, and while Team USA have the World No.1 and golf's new poster boy Bryson DeChambeau in their ranks... I can't look past the strength in depth for Team Europe.

The significance of the early session is huge, with a win on Friday morning often translating to that team lifting the Ryder Cup, so Europe have to come out the blocks fast to give themselves the best chance of defending their title.

Ryder Cup Day One Foursome Session Correct Score

Europe to win Friday foursomes 3-1 (+450 with BetMGM)

After seeing the Friday foursomes pairings, revealed on Thursday by Keegan Bradley and Luke Donald, I was even more confident in an early Europe lead.

The incredibly strong partnership of Rahm and Hatton leading the team off is a great way to get momentum moving in the blue team's favour, especially against DeChambeau and Thomas who could get a little tetchy if things don't start well.

McIlroy and Fleetwood also look to have a great chance against Morikawa and English, and while I'm giving the second match the Scheffler and Henley, it's the final pairing that I believe swings the session in Europe's favour.

Robert MacIntyre and Viktor Hovland could be this year's stand out pairing, the 'Moliwood' from Paris 2018 if you will. Hovland appears full of confidence and MacIntyre's stock has greatly risen in the past two years since Rome.

3-1 is a good price, as is 2.5-1.5 to Europe at +500, but I am going to punt for the former and hope for a lightning fast start for the away side.

We've had our say with our outright betting preview where we've made our Ryder Cup result predictions and also talked about who could finish up as the top points scorer.

Due to the home side's recent dominance, Keegan Bradley's Team USA are the -145 favorites to win the Ryder Cup back in New York, with Luke Donald's visitors +160 to grab a rare away win.

The tie is priced up at +1100 which may prove popular as many believe this will be one of the closest contests in years, but away from those main markets there's a host of special bets to consider.

Top rookie points scorer

Four on the USA side and just the one rookie for Europe, and Rasmus Hojgaard has the advantage of being in Rome driving a golf cart around while his brother Nicolai helped Europe win in 2023.

The problem with Hojgaard is I don't think he'll play too much, while the top two in the market, Russell Henley and Cameron Young, will play a decent part in proceedings.

Young performs well in Majors, which is as close as you can get to the Ryder Cup, and he's a New York native who knows the course inside out - having won the New York State Open there as an amateur.

Top rookie: Cameron Young (+275) at Bet MGM

Top wildcard points scorer

Jon Rahm is the favorite here at +400 and that's fair enough as the Spaniard will be one of Europe's leaders, but I fancy Patrick Cantlay could end up as the top points scorer out of everyone at Bethpage.

He's +650 for this market and if you don't fancy him to beat the likes of Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler then it's a good alternative.

Competition will be tough with Viktor Hovland, Ludvig Aberg and Collin Morikawa around, but Cantlay is as good as they come in Ryder Cups.

Having seen Rory McIlroy getting booed on a practice day it shows just how much pressure he'll be under at Bethpage Black.

We've heard horror stories of the abuse the likes of Colin Montgomerie and Sergio Garcia have taken in the past on US soil but the New Yorkers could take that up a notch.

It may even prompt Luke Donald to not play McIlroy for all five sessions as you'd expect, and it'd only be natural for him to drop a point here or there.

So working on even a 50% return from four matches then I'll go with the unders on this one - as he's -145 for 2.5 points or more but I'll go for two or under.

Total Points: Rory McIlroy 2pts or under (+115) at Bet MGM

Scottie Scheffler total points

Again I'm going for the outsider of the two here even for the World No.1 who is head and shoulders the best player on the planet - but this is not a strokeplay tournament.

I've got a feeling that nobody may be able to manage the full five matches at Bethpage, as the atmosphere could be just too emotionally draining.

And he'll have to play foursomes at some point if he's to play four or more matches, which can all depend on how his partner performs. And a 2.5-point return from four matches would be more than reasonable.

Total points: Scottie Scheffler 2.5 or under (+130) at Bet MGM

To score zero points

I really don’t like doing this one, but I’m simply following a trend that Matt Fitzpatrick has played in two away Ryder Cups and won zero points so far.

He's 1-7-0 overall and 0-5 in America, and at Bethpage Black he'll face one of the toughest crowds any European side has had to face.

Fitzpatrick hasn't been the only one to struggle, as three Europeans went pointless in 2021 and four came up empty handed in 2016, so it's a decent shout that at least one will return zero points again.

JJ Spaun is the shortest priced American at +900 but as a US Open champion you'd fancy him to pick something up, and the home crowd should help even the likes of Ben Griffin and Harris English who are both +1200.

Fitzpatrick ticks all the boxes in this market though.

To score zero points: Matt Fitzpatrick +750 at Bet MGM

First USA player out in singles

Tactics and the state of play are huge here in determining who goes out in what position - with a team that's trailing often front loading and sending all the big guns out first.

A more even score can see a split formation with some big hitters out first and then saving a big three to hopefully play in the decisive late matches.

Scottie Scheffler is the big favorite at +150 and that's probably a wise enough shout, unless the World No.1 is saved by Bradley for the later matches.

Of course, if you don't get off to a good start then those last matches can become dead rubbers so it's a delicate balancing act, and right now I'd say Scheffler is nailed on to be first man up.

You just know Bryson DeChambeau (+450) will be straining at the leash to get out first and lead from the front, while Patrick Cantlay has gone out third and second in the last two Ryder Cups and if Bradley believes Rory McIlroy will lead off Europe he'd be a great match at +650.

But I think we're safe enough with Scheffler setting the tone.

It's got to be Rory McIlroy, right? The +138 favorites has gone out first three times, although in Rome he was fourth, so his singles starts now read 4-1-1-1-3-3-2.

Jon Rahm led off in Rome and is +275 to do so again, he's not a man to back down either so I can easily see the Spaniard going off at one.

But come on, can you really see anyone other than McIlroy leading them out? The only way he wouldn't would be if Europe had a huge lead to protect, but even then I still think you send your talisman out first.

There's actually a number of betting markets to shoot at where you can pick out the top points scorers for both Team USA and Europe, along with odds on who will be the top-scoring rookie and best of the 12 wildcard picks.

Luke Donald and Keegan Bradley have big decisions to make on who to play and when, but there are some stats and trends to follow that can help us to try and figure out who will play the most.

As obviously the more you play the more points you can pick up, but who are the leading fancies to put points on the board at Bethpage Black?

Europeans dominate top points scorer stats

History tells us that you should really back a European player in the overall top points scorer market - as just one American in the last 13 Ryder Cups has finished as outright top scorer.

That was Dustin Johnson in 2021, with the previous being Corey Pavin in 1995! And overall the USA has only won this market in four of the 22 meetings since Europe joined in 1979.

And with three ties between the sides that means the Europeans have had the top scorer 15 times, with five in the last six showing that even in the modern event with huge home advantage it doesn't translate into success in this market.

Top overall Ryder Cup points scorer tips

First off - judging candidates to play all five matches. Only Justin Thomas has done it on the USA team but with the make-up of their team this year Scottie Scheffler, Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele must be candidates.

And Bryson DeChambeau too who has been pegged as the team's x-factor by Bradley.

Viktor Hovland has played every match in his two Ryder Cups, going in all five in Rome along with Rory McIlroy and playing the full house along with Jon Rahm in 2021.

McIlroy in fact has played in 33 of 34 available Ryder Cup sessions so he's surely going the distance again, while Justin Rose has played all five matches twice but at his age perhaps not this year.

Despite Europe's domination of this market I'm going to go against the grain as it's time for the USA to win it again, and I think Patrick Cantlay is the man to do it.

He's such a tough matchplay man with the best points percentage in the team, winning 5.5 points from eight matches. He's got a great partnership with Schauffele and has won both his singles so could go big again.

Rory McIlroy is the +350 favorite after finishing as top overall scorer in Rome, while Viktor Hovland is a good price here at +800 considering he's played in every session in his Ryder Cup career.

I'm not convinced his game is back to its best though, so my pick here is Tommy Fleetwood at +500 as he's got a brilliant record 7-3-2 record from his three Ryder Cups, and will play at least four times again here.

He's a great partner in both formats and I think crucially here he's a much-loved figure in the USA so won't get as much grief from the crowd as others who are more vocal in the team.

Top USA points scorer tips

Patrick Cantlay is +700 for this but since we're backing him for overall it's best to have another horse in the race and plump for someone else here.

Scottie Scheffler is naturally enough favorite at +275 but of the other leading fancies Bryson DeChambeau stands out at +600 as nobody will want to face him and the energy he'll bring to Bethpage.

The crowd he'll take with him will be insane and he'll hype them up as much as possible - think a slightly more likeable Patrick Reed as an example. That coupled with his huge hitting and he'll be a really tough draw for anyone.

For a big outsider then +1200 shot Cameron Young could be a shout. He's got a game that thrives in Majors and he also crucially knows Bethpage Black like the back of his hand.

Regular readers of Bazza's Best Bets will know that I am typically someone who relies on trends and data to circle in on my selections for the betting card.

There is an element of that in this selection, but I also can't ignore a very strong gut instinct that has been building for some time.

After watching plenty of golf this season, across all three of the main men's professional tours, I simply can't look past an emphatic European win.

I am, like any sane person with an ounce of golfing knowledge, aware that Scottie Scheffler has the ability to turn the tide and almost single-handedly drag Team USA into contention - but I am not sure that is enough based on what I would describe as a sub-par squad supporting him.

Team Europe have Luke Donald back again to lead the troops, where he has assembled a very reliable and consistent roster packed with experience.

Team USA have four rookies, making up 25% of their team, and only Justin Thomas has made at least three Ryder Cup appearances.

By contrast, Europe have six players with three or more Ryder Cup appearances - and McIlroy and Rose have almost as many between them as the entire American team.

Europe have also won 8 of the last 11 editions of the Ryder Cup, including twice away from home, so I can't ignore the obvious value in this bet.

Ryder Cup Top Points Scorer Tips

Team USA Top Points Scorer: Scottie Scheffler (2pts @ +275 with BetMGM)

As I eluded to earlier, Scottie Scheffler is the shining star in this American side.

With six wins in 2025, including two Major Championships, the World No.1 is the worthy favourite in this market.

While I would usually scoff at the price on offer, as it feels very short, I have no desire at all to back any of his 11 teammates.

A Sunday singles clash with Rory McIlroy is a Ryder Cup match we'd love to see, but I can't see that happening and as such I'd expect Scottie to go about his business in typical fashion and rack up the points up in the process.

I'd be surprised if Scheffler isn't picked to play in each of the five sessions, giving him a great chance to earn the most points, especially as it's likely that Team USA will rely heavily on their MVP this week.

Team Europe Top Points Scorer: Viktor Hovland (1pt @ +800 with BetMGM)

Top Combined Points Scorer: Viktor Hovland (0.5pt @ +1800 with BetMGM)

One of the most important factors in selecting a winner in this market is predicting who will play the most matches at the Ryder Cup, therefore having the opportunity as well as the ability to win points.

Viktor Hovland has a 100% record in terms of appearances over the past two editions, playing 10 out of 10 matches. While he didn't qualify automatically for the team this time around, Donald clearly has faith in him and I fancy him to see plenty of action.

In 2023, Hovland returned 3.5 points and was one half of the duo that crushed Scottie Scheffler and Brooks Koepka with a 9&7 win in the early session on Saturday.

His form was trending in the right direction in the lead up to the event, with two top-10 finishes in three events, plus a win at the Valspar Championship and a third place finish at the US Open indicates we could be about to see Viktor back to his best.

So, at an event where he has excelled previously, and in an environment where he appears to thrive, I am siding with Hovland in two great value points scorer picks.

Bazza's 'BOOM' Bet

Tournament Handicap Betting: Europe -4.5 (1.5pts @ +600 with BetMGM)

This is a new entry to the weekly column, just in time for its (hopefully winning) debut at the Ryder Cup.

Bazza's 'BOOM' bet is my adventurously speculative selection of the week that offers plenty of value. By its very nature, this selection is not intended to be a big stakes tip, but that doesn't mean I don't like its chances at a huge price.

I have said it with my chest the whole way through this column, and I am not about to backtrack now, so here we go...

I genuinely believe Europe could give the USA a significant thumping at Bethpage Black, so I am opting for a little extra juice from the tournament winner price in the handicap betting market.

For this bet to win, Europe need to win by five points, which is something that has happened twice since 2014. The European side are away on this occasion, which will make the task more tricky, but there are plenty of reasons to like our chances.

Since the last Ryder Cup in Rome, four of the top five players for driving distance play for the European team, which could be huge on a golf course that rewards power.

The European squad is also packed with experience and could thrive off the consistency provided by returning captain Luke Donald picking an almost unchanged side from their emphatic 2023 win.

Home sides have dominated the Ryder Cup recently with just two away wins in the last 13 meetings and none since the Miracle of Medinah in 2012.

Europe have claimed those last two away wins though, and Luke Donald returns 11 of the 12 players that won in Rome two years ago, with Rasmus Hojgaard the only rookie for the visitors.

Team USA has an inexperienced captain in Keegan Bradley and four rookies, but they're the betting favorites at -145 due to home advantage while Europe are +160 to triumph in New York.

The 14-14 tie, which would see Europe retain the cup, is priced at +1100, but which way do we see it going? Read on for our Ryder Cup picks.

USA rightly enter the week as betting favorites with the last five Ryder Cups all going to the home team, but Europe are supremely strong and experienced so it is set up to be a very tight match.

So in light of that, I will be picking the tie at +1100, which I think offers good value. That also means I will have Europe to lift the trophy at +115 as well as Europe in the tie no bet market at +140. There has not been a tie since 1989 but we did see one recently in the Solheim Cup and it's surely time for another.

Donald has proven himself as a fantastic captain and his side are in great form heading to New York with stalwarts like McIlroy, Rahm, Fleetwood, Hovland, Aberg and Hatton all playing well so I find it difficult to see them being defeated.

Top points scorer: Russell Henley (+1600)

The American might be a rookie this week but he is a seasoned veteran with 14 years of pro experience under his belt and five PGA Tour wins.

He was excellent in his Presidents Cup debut last year, where he partnered Scheffler, and is the type of player who we can expect to play both foursomes and fourballs, so I can see him playing four, maybe five sessions, and potentially returning 3.5 to 4 points.

He is now World No.3 and very good at the basics so expect him to find fairway after fairway and give himself a lot of birdie looks.

Winner: Europe +160 @ BetMGM

As anyone who regularly reads Bazza’s Best Bets will know, I am usually someone who relentlessly follows trends in the data... which points favourably to a home win.

However, I feel so bullish about the chances of Team Europe that I am prepared to shamelessly abandon my values and punt for a big away win. Luke Donald and his team are settled, confident and arrive in great form, which isn’t something I could confidently say about Team USA.

With the market favoring a win for the home side, I am looking to capitalize on some great value in the betting.

Score: USA 11-17 Europe (+1600)

Team Europe set records when winning away in 2004, by a whopping nine points, so this slightly more conservative pick of 17-11 (+1600) to the Europeans is not outside the realms of possibility.

Top Points Scorer: Viktor Hovland (+1800)

A huge part of getting this market right is predicting who is going to have the best opportunity to score points as well as the ability to do so. Viktor Hovland has been used in all five matches in both of the previous two Ryder Cups, returning 3.5 points in 2023.

His form improved drastically towards the end of the season after a win out of nowhere at the Valspar Championship in March. He was third at the US Open and has three top-12 finishes in his three most recent starts. If Luke Donald trusts in Viktor to head into battle in every session once again, this bet could turn out to be fantastic value.

Winner: Europe +160 @ BetMGM

It's experience vs home advantage in New York as Europe have a team, a captain and a backroom staff that know exactly what they're doing, with Luke Donald doubling up being a great idea for an away match.

Team USA are largely untested, both on the course and off it, with four rookies, only one player with more than two appearances and two vice-captains who've never appeared at the event before.

In total there's 35 Ryder Cup appearances among players and staff - 13 of them for Jim Furyk - while Europe have 66 and in crucial foursomes play the Americans have a combined record of just 6-12.

Beyond the stats though are the intangibles, especially for the USA, as we've no idea how the rookies will tackle this unique test, as they could just as easily be inspired by the overwhelming atmosphere as be swept away by it.

So the choice you have to wrestle with is whether Europe's experience can nullify Team USA's home advantage - I think it can, just, as while away teams usually get blown out, this team is built just that bit differently.

Score: USA 13-15 Europe (+1100)

The last five Ryder Cups have been landslides with winning margins of 5-10-7-6-5 points, but this should be a lot closer with Europe's experience and returning captain cancelling out the huge home advantage.

Top points scorer: Patrick Cantlay (+1400)

With the USA team setup as it is, the likes of Scottie Scheffler, Bryson DeChambeau, Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay will have to do a lot of heavy lifting, and I could see all four of those having to play all five matches.

Cantlay has a superb 5-2-1 record from his two Ryder Cups and has won both his singles as one of the toughest matchplayers on the team. It will be no surprise for him to be the USA leader at Bethpage.

Favorite: Min Woo Lee +2200 To Win @ BetMGM

Picking a winner looks tricky this week with a golf course that we don’t know a great deal about, so I am going to back Min Woo Lee based on him being one of the best players in the field and his form from Wentworth last time out.

Lee double-bogeyed the 71st hole and still managed to finish T11th after a 67-66 weekend. Had he parred the 17th, he would have been T3rd. The Australian won for the first time on the PGA Tour earlier this season and has five wins as a pro. Last week was his best result since his Houston Open win so a good sign that he is returning to form.

Sleeper: Casey Jarvis +12500 To Win @ BetMGM

The 22-year-old looks set to be one of South Africa’s top players over the coming years and he is another who enjoyed some strong form last week at Wentworth. Jarvis opened with an impressive 65 (-7) before falling back in rounds two and three. He closed with a 67 to finish T38th for a solid comeback after a T20th at the Irish Open the week prior.

The Johannesburg man also recently posted his best finish of the season with a T13th at the Nexo Championship, so I’m hoping he can carry his Wentworth form to France and crack the top-10.

Favorite: Angel Ayora +2800 To Win @ BetMGM

I had considered Martin Couvra and John Parry this week but, for my favorite pick, I am opting for Angel Ayora, who has performed incredibly well over the last few months, wrapping up multiple top-10s at some big tournaments.

Finishing T5th at the Amgen Irish Open, T8th at the Omega European Masters and T7th at the Italian Open, it's these performances that are making me lean towards the Spaniard, as the courses used for those events correspond nicely with this week's venue - a tree lined layout that measures on the shorter side. Ayora is in good form and, at a course that will be new to many, I believe he has what it takes to claim a first DP World Tour win.

Sleeper: Guido Migliozzi +8000 To Win @ BetMGM

A former French Open winner, albeit at Le Golf National, Guido Migliozzi has started to re-find some form of late, making his last four cuts and securing a T13th finish at the Omega European Masters and a T24th last week at Wentworth.

In fact, at last week's BMW PGA Championship, he shot a six-under 66, showing his game is there, with the Italian ranking well in all the major stats categories. He's an experienced player, with four DP World Tour wins, and providing reasonable odds considering he is on an upward trajectory of late.

Favorite: Jordan Smith +2200 To Win @ BetMGM

One of the most accurate players and best ball-strikers on the DP World Tour, Jordan Smith could well take advantage of the wide-open field this week to claim his latest long-overdue win.

The Englishman has largely been superb from tee to green this year, but his putting has often dictated how high up the leaderboard he finishes. There were signs of life with the flat stick through August, so if he can find something in his third week of play in a row, then Smith could contend at the Open de France.

Sleeper: Martin Couvra +4500 To Win @ BetMGM

Although Couvra's form quickly cooled after winning in Turkey a few months ago, the young Frenchman suggested he has turned a corner with a T13th finish at the BMW PGA Championship last time out.

The strengths of his game lie in accuracy and excellent approach play, and those two areas will be vital for whoever does well at a new course to much of the field this time around. Should Couvra be able to build upon his Wentworth display, he could begin to warm up his form again via a top-10 finish at his home national open.

Still, his odds are likely a little more juicy as a result of that playoff loss to Alex Noren at the BMW PGA Championship - so I am happy to get onboard and ride the wave as he moves on to his national open.

This will surely be an event he has circled on his calendar every year, perhaps evidenced by two consecutive top-20 finishes in his last two appearances at the Open De France.

He was 5th the week before in Ireland, so arrives in red hot form, but in truth he has been playing great golf for the majority of the year.

Six top-10 finishes, including a victory at the Italian Open, suggests this could be his best chance to lift this trophy - especially when you consider the generous strength of field created by the departing European Ryder Cup team players.

Typically, the one time I have been on Kristoffer Reitan in the past three months is the one week he missed the cut - but I am willing to forgive and forget as I believe he is a great option this week.

Reitan has been sensationa since April 2025, claiming a maiden DP World Tour title and banking five other top-6 finishes. In fact, with the exception of my ill-timed tip at the Irish Open, he has finished in the top-35 of the leadboard in 13 of 15 starts.

His consistency is a major factor in his selection this week, especially considering the weaker field, as it's clear he is able to adapt his game to a variety of different courses and tests.

I don't see it being long before he adds win number two to his resume and, providing I don't jinx him again this week, it could come sooner rather than later.

Sleeper Betting Tips

Sleeper: Antoine Rozner (1.5pt @ +5000 with BetMGM)

Continuing the theme of picking in-form Frenchman, Antoine Rozner looks a great value price this week.

While his finishes on the leaderboard in the past few weeks don't really stack up to his compatriot, Adrien Saddier, he has played some very promising golf.

One disappointing round has marred his last two tournaments, but there are visible green shoots with a 66 posted to open at Wentworth last week and another to close at the K Club the week before.

Those tracks are somewhat similar in style to this week's host venue, being a tree lined course that will test all areas of a players game, so I am keen to give him a chance here.

His performances on the PGA Tour have been mixed, with some impressive displays, but as a three-time DP World Tour winner he certainly knows how to get the job done outside of the USA.

Top-10 Finish Betting Tips

Top-10 Finish: Kazuma Kobori (3.5pts @ +550 with BetMGM)

With this type of event, I have tried to find an accurate striker of the golf ball who hits his fair share of greens in regulation and who has the ability to putt well on what will likely be very fast, sloping greens.

One player who ticked all those boxes for me, who has also played respectably in the last three events on similar style tracks, is Kazuma Kobori.

The New Zealander ranks 2nd for driving accuracy in 2025, which could be crucial here, and recently ranked 2nd for greens in regulation and 3rd for Strokes Gained: Putting when finishing in third place at the British Masters three starts ago.

While it might be a stretch to see him win a first DP World Tour title here, it's certainly not outside the realms of possibility and I really like him as a top-10 finish pick.

Sahith Theegala +8000 To Win (+600 Top-10) @ BetMGM

Theegala missed two months of the 2025 season with injury and missed all three cuts upon his return. He has had another break after missing the Playoffs so is back feeling stronger and fully fit, returning at a venue he won at in 2023 and finished T7th last year.

The Californian was 11th in the world as recently as a year ago and we know he is a classy player with pedigree of contending in the biggest events. Whether he can turn it on this week remains to be seen but at this venue I think he is worth a look.

Rico Hoey +8000 To Win (+600 Top-10) @ BetMGM

Silverado is a course that rewards strong iron play so in the sleeper market I am looking at Rico Hoey. The Filipino-Californian ranks 16th in Strokes Gained: Approach this year on tour and is also a remarkable 2nd in Off The Tee and 3rd Tee To Green. He is the worst putter on tour statistically, however, so we are relying on him getting hot with the flat stick - and he has gone to a new long putter this week.

Hoey has Korn Ferry Tour and PGA Tour Canada wins with two top-10s on the PGA Tour this season as well as three other top-12s.

Sami Valimaki +9000 To Win (+650 Top-10) @ BetMGM

Finishing T34 at the Wyndham Championship in August, Sami Valimaki has enjoyed a two week stint back in Europe that consisted of a T8 finish at the Danish Golf Championship and a runner-up result at the Omega European Masters.

Certainly, the Finn is in good form and, shooting a 62 and 65 over the weekend in Switzerland shows he's not afraid of going low, which is why his odds are quite eye-catching for the Procore Championship.

On the PGA Tour he has shown glimpses of what he's capable of, so two top 10s in Europe will hopefully be the catalyst to fire once again in the States.

Nick Hardy +22500 To Win (+1400 Top-10) @ BetMGM

Finishing T11 at the Charles Schwab Challenge, T8 at the ISCO Championship and T28 at the 3M Open, Nick Hardy has provided some good results over the last four months and, going into the Procore Championship, I believe he can kick on to challenge for the top 10.

Last year, he finished in T50 at this event, with all four of his rounds hovering around the level-par mark.

Looking at the stats, he ranks highly in approaches from inside 150 yards and is 13th in greens in regulation. He can hit a long ball as well, so here's hoping all of that comes together for what is a big run of events in the FedEx Cup Fall for the American.

Among the headliners is Rory McIlroy, who claimed last week's Amgen Irish Open. He will be joined by Jon Rahm, Ludvig Aberg, Tyrrell Hatton and many, many more.

Given the quality on show at Wentworth, both McIlroy and Rahm start as favorites, with there being plenty of value throughout the field, as the stars of the DP World Tour tee it up.

Last year, Billy Horschel won a second BMW PGA Championship title at odds of +2000, while Thriston Lawrence came tied second at +4000 and Matthew Baldwin in a share of fourth at odds of +15000.

Winners of the DP World Tour's flagship event tend to be among the big names but, in 2023, Ryan Fox won with odds of +5000, while Danny Willett was +6600 in 2019, so there is a tendency for big-odds players to put in strong performances.

What's more, like The Masters, the BMW PGA Championship is held at Wentworth annually, meaning course form and experience plays a big part.

Throw in the fact that a lot of names on the DP World Tour are finding form over the circuit's 'Back 9', and you have an excellent recipe for some sleeper picks to challenge at this week's iconic layout.

Dean Burmester +6000 To Win (+450 Top-10) @ BetMGM

I think Dean Burmester is a very underrated player who could potentially be a multiple-time PGA Tour winner had he not joined LIV Golf.

The South African recently won his second LIV Golf title at the penultimate event of the season in Chicago to finish 5th in the season standings. He has three top-12 finishes at Wentworth over the years in a DP World Tour career that includes four victories, (he also has 11 Sunshine Tour wins), so he arrives in great form at a course he has played well at in the past.

Burmester is clearly one of LIV’s top players and a very experienced pro who seems to keep on getting better and better.

Laurie Canter +10000 To Win (+700 Top-10) @ BetMGM

The Englishman lives in the area and loves Wentworth, having finished 2nd to Billy Horschel in 2021.

Canter is a better player now with two years of LIV Golf experience and two DP World Tour wins under his belt. He won his second title in Bahrain earlier this year and has had a runner-up and a T7 since. He was also 3rd at the Dubai Desert Classic.

His recent form isn’t amazing but he was a solid T42 in Ireland last week, on a very different style of course, and could well turn it on at Wentworth in front of the home fans.

Oliver Lindell +9000 To Win (+650 Top-10) @ BetMGM

Oliver Lindell has been going under the radar during the last month, with the Finn finishing T7th at the Nexo Championship, T8th at the Danish Golf Championship, T17th at the Omega European Masters and 7th at the Amgen Irish Open.

That's an impressive four week stretch for Lindell, who is making his BMW PGA Championship debut. This might work against him, the inexperience factor, but on form alone he is definitely one to consider at Wentworth.

Marcus Armitage +17500 To Win (+1200 Top-10) @ BetMGM

Admittedly, prior to the Amgen Irish Open, I wouldn't have backed the Englishman but, following a final round 64 at The K Club, I feel it could be the catalyst for Marcus Armitage to kick on this week at Wentworth.

Last year, he produced a 67, 71, 68 and 69 to finish in the top 10 and, the week prior, he had a strong performance at the Irish Open, showing that this time of year perhaps brings the best golf out of him. A T30 at Wentworth in 2021 shows it wasn't a fluke either, so expect Armitage to spring a surprise this week.

Known as the DP World Tour's flagship event, 11 of Europe's Ryder Cup team will feature, along with several Major winners and big names from the LIV Golf League, as they compete for one of the biggest trophies on the circuit.

Billy Horschel returns to defend his BMW PGA Championship title, a tournament he has won twice in his career. The start will be the American's first in five months following right hip surgery.

Among the big names joining him and McIlroy are two-time Major champion Jon Rahm, 2020 BMW PGA Championship winner Tyrrell Hatton and former Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama, who is making his debut.

Joaquin Niemann also makes his debut at Wentworth following a five-win season on the LIV Golf League. He will be joined by fellow circuit stars Dean Burmester, Patrick Reed and Brooks Koepka.

BMW PGA Championship Betting Picks

Pick One: Corey Conners +3500 To Win @ BetMGM

Corey Conners is making his BMW PGA debut this week so there is a certain amount of risk attached to this pick, but I’m hoping the West Course fits his eye and suits him well, especially as it’s a golf course that rewards great ball striking, and there aren’t many better all-rounders than the solid Canadian.

Conners isn’t the longest hitter, but he’s accurate, which is very important at Wentworth, and I can see him contending if he has a good week with the flat stick. He was T4th at the Tour Championship in his last start, one of seven top 10s on the PGA Tour this season.

Pick Two: Justin Rose +5000 To Win @ BetMGM

There are not many tournaments around the world that Justin Rose would rather win than the BMW PGA Championship. Throughout his 25+ year career he has surprisingly never won at Wentworth (two runners-up finishes and five other top-12s), so there is surely still plenty of drive to get a win around the West Course.

Rose has blown hot and cold for the last few years but, when he’s in form, he is easily still one of the best in the game. He won last month at the FedEx. St Jude Championship and I have a feeling he can challenge again this week at a venue that he now lives at and knows better than most.

Pick One: Tommy Fleetwood +1100 To Win @ BetMGM

The Englishman makes his first start following his Tour Championship victory and, with a PGA Tour win finally under his belt, I expect Tommy Fleetwood to push on at a course where he has a great record.

Finishing T12th and 6th in his last two starts at the tournament, the seven-time DP World Tour winner has been one of the most consistent performers over the past six months. What's more, Wentworth clearly suits his game so, with the home crowd behind him, I believe it'll be another memorable week for Fleetwood.

Pick Two: Matt Wallace +6000 To Win @ BetMGM

There's so much quality in this field that, for my second pick, I've tried to also include value, with Matt Wallace fitting the bill nicely following a close-call at the recent Omega European Masters.

Wallace was emotional following the runner-up finish but, returning to Wentworth, I believe he will challenge once again. Last year he finished T12th, producing an eight-under 64 on Sunday, which shows that he can go low around the layout. The Englishman is a great ball striker, so expect him to go well again this week.

Golf Monthly Betting Picks: Wins In 2025

Taking place just two weeks out from the Ryder Cup, the Procore Championship is littered with a star-studded field, as 10 of the 12 US Ryder Cup team are to tee it up at Silverado Country Club's North Course.

Procore Championship Betting Picks

Pick One: Patrick Cantlay +1600 To Win @ BetMGM

The Californian returns to his home state this week after a promising end to the 2025 season, where he was T9th at the FedEx St Jude Championship before finishing T2nd at East Lake in the Tour Championship - the two best iron play weeks of his year so far.

Cantlay is without a victory in over three years, with that win coming at the 2022 BMW Championship, so surely it’s about time he gets back into the winner’s circle.

Pick Two: Justin Thomas +1600 To Win @ BetMGM

Justin Thomas has historically played very well at Silverado when he has added it to his schedule, with a 5th-place finish in 2023, a T4th in 2019 and T8th in 2016.

The World No.5 played well at East Lake in his most recent start to finish T7th in the FedEx Cup, so is well worth a punt this week. Outside of Scottie Scheffler, Cantlay and Thomas are certainly two Ryder Cuppers who I expect to contend at Silverado Country Club.

Pick One: JJ Spaun +3000 To Win @ BetMGM

The obvious choice is Scheffler but, this week, I've opted for JJ Spaun, as he has plenty of experience in this tournament and was playing some solid golf prior to the conclusion of the Tour Championship back in mid-August.

Producing a runner-up finish at the FedEx St. Jude Championship last month, 2025 has been a great year for Spaun and, at a course where he has a couple of top 10s, I expect the run of good results to continue. His overall game is very solid, so expect the American to produce a strong performance ahead of the Ryder Cup in two weeks time.

Pick Two: Akshay Bhatia +4000 To Win @ BetMGM

Towards the end of the regulation PGA Tour season, Akshay Bhatia was starting to produce some fine results, including a T6th at the FedEx St. Jude Championship and a T13th at the Tour Championship.

Although he missed the cut at Silverado Country Club in 2023, he did finish in T9th back in 2020, so does have some course form to his name. Like Spaun, Bhatia possesses a great all-round game so, with a stacked field present, I believe the American may be one to watch outside of the 10 US Ryder Cup players.

Haotong Li has had quite the year in 2025, winning a fourth DP World Tour title in Qatar, securing a spot at the Masters thanks to his fourth place finish at the Open Championship and surging towards earning a PGA Tour card for the 2026 season.

Since his stellar performance at Royal Portrush in July, Li has followed up with a T8th finish at the Betfred British Masters and a T24th finish at the Omega European Masters.

He ranks 13th for Strokes Gained (SG): Tee to green this season and has ranked 13th and third for the same measure in his last two starts.

His form in Ireland is difficult to swallow, but I believe he has turned a corner in his career and is finally realising the huge potential he has threatened for a number of years - so I am prepared to give him a chance at a huge price.

Sleeper Betting Tips

Sleeper: Grant Forrest (1pt @ +6600 with BetMGM)

Grant Forrest cruised to a second DP World Tour win just two starts ago at the Nexo Championship, adding to the Hero Open he won four years earlier.

Interestingly, both of his DP World Tour wins have come in Scotland - but it's his form in Ireland that really impressed me when doing my research for this event.

In his last four appearances in the Irish Open, Forrest has three top-five finishes and was third at the K Club when the venue hosted the event in 2023.

It hasn't been the most consistent of seasons for the Scotsman, but he clearly likes this event and plays well at this venue. Buoyed by a recent win, I can see him challenging at a big price.

Top-10 Finish Betting Tips

Top-10 Finish: John Parry (3.5pts @ +450 at BetMGM)

John Parry ended a 14-year wait for a second DP World Tour title in late 2024, claiming victory at the Mauritius Open in December, but his momentum has shown no signs of slowing as he searches for a third.

Since that win, Parry has a runner-up and two top-four finishes - one of which came just three starts ago in Scotland.

Having put him on my watchlist following that display, a T13th finish at the Omega European Masters last time out really caught my attention.

Parry ranks 14th for SG: Tee to green this season and was second in the field in Switzerland last week for the same measure. At a very reasonable price, I back him to be in the mix again.

Top-10 Finish: Angel Ayora (3.5pts @ +450 at BetMGM)

Angel Ayora was someone I signposted for success at the start of this season, and while he has shown flashes of his undeniably talent - we are yet to see him convert his chances into a first DP World Tour win.

After a T8th finish in Switzerland last week, following a T13th finish at the British Masters the week before, it appears everything is trending in the right direction again... so, I am ready to jump on board.

The young Spaniard ranks sixth for SG: Off the tee and 17th for SG: Tee to green in 2025, so he has the ball striking skills to tackle the K Club and I wouldn't be surprised to see him around the top-10 come Sunday.

A number of current and former Ryder Cup players are in the Irish Open field at the K Club, including Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry, Tyrrell Hatton, Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed.

The European trio - while obviously trying to win as well - will be aiming to fine tune their respective games along the way as they try to reach New York in prime shape to help Luke Donald's men provide an upset.

However, there is one member of Team Europe who is, surprisingly, not teeing it up this week - reigning champion, Rasmus Hojgaard. One half of the Danish twins will be playing at the BMW PGA Championship in a few days' time, but he has opted to automatically offer up his trophy to someone else and prepare in a different way.

As well as McIlroy and Lowry et al, some of the other outright betting favorites for the Irish Open include Northern Ireland's Tom McKibbin, Norway's Kristoffer Reitan and England's Marco Penge.

But away from those with the shortest odds, there are a number of other players who stand strong chances of gatecrashing the title challenge or banking their latest top-10.

The Englishman comes into the week in red hot form after a sixth-place finish last time out at the European Masters, where he recorded his second-best statistical week of the year in terms of both Approach and Putting.

Mansell has a win already this season in Singapore and looks a good outside pick for another top-10 in this stacked field.

Andy Sullivan +6600 To Win (+500 Top-10) @ BetMGM

Former Ryder Cupper and four-time DP World Tour winner Andy Sullivan is on a very good run of form heading into the K Club, with his last four results reading 5th-T16th-T7th-T17th.

He has four top-20s through the years in the Irish Open, including a runner-up in 2019. The Englishman can mix it with the best when on form so he’s another I like him for a top-10 pick at these odds.

Laurie Canter +6000 To Win (+450 Top-10) @ BetMGM

I backed Canter for his victory at the Bahrain Championship, so, although there's some sentimental value behind this pick, there's also some sense as I feel the Englishman is due a big result.

Having not played since the British Masters, earning a T64th, he did claim a T7th at the BMW International Open the event prior, showing that his form is there. Canter possesses plenty of distance off the tee, as well as excellent approach play, so if he can keep the ball in play and get the putter firing, I fancy him to go well at strong odds.

Martin Couvra +15000 To Win (+1100 Top-10) @ BetMGM

Admittedly, the Frenchman hasn't shown great form, missing three cuts in a row in his last three starts. However, prior to that run, he had a runner-up finish at the Italian Open and a T8th at the Austrian Alpine Open, so his results are there.

Possessing a great all-round game, specifically accuracy off the tee, approach play and putting, I'm hoping the Frenchman is able to re-find his form from a month ago, where he seemed to be in contention every week. Heading to a new course, it could well be a fresh start for the 22-year-old, who already has a victory in 2025.

Andy Sullivan +6600 To Win (+500 Top-10) @ BetMGM

Sullivan is continuing to enjoy a purple patch in his season with two top-10s and two top-20s over his past four starts. Those results have arrived on a variety of different courses as well, so I feel optimistic Sullivan can better his missed cut at this event and course in 2023.

A couple of factors are different this time around, too, with Sullivan's ball-striking seemingly in a much better place as far as strokes gained goes. He is also putting much better. When he's missed cuts this term, it has usually been struggles with the flatstick causing the problem.

Although a relative lack of distance off the tee suggests he might struggle to contend for the title, I can certainly see Sullivan squeezing inside the top-10.

Oliver Lindell +8000 To Win (+550 Top-10) @ BetMGM

Since graduating from the HotelPlanner Tour last year, Lindell has taken his time to adjust but is now playing some really good golf and showing what he can do - especially with putter in hand. His putting stats in each of his past seven starts have seen positive strokes gained, with as many as 1.60 at The Open.

The Finnish player is similar to Sullivan in that he can suffer off the tee in terms of distance, but every other aspect of his game is rocking at the moment and he's in good form. As a result, I would not be surprised to see Lindell gatecrash the top-10 come Sunday.

The latest event in the DP World Tour's Back 9 sequence is sure to attract plenty of attention, too, with the PGA Tour's FedEx Cup Fall not beginning until next week and an excellent field assembled.

Rory McIlroy is one of the most notable names competing at The K Club, not only in terms of reputation but also in relation to the betting market. However, he is likely to be pushed all the way by his Team Europe peers in Shane Lowry and Tyrrell Hatton.

Other stars of the game involved this week include Brooks Koepka, Patrick Reed, Jhonattan Vegas and Christiaan Bezuidenhout, with each trailing McIlroy by some margin in the eyes of sportsbooks.

Irish Open Betting Picks

Pick One: Shane Lowry +1600 To Win @ BetMGM

The Irishman returns home this week having had a short rest following his T13th finish in the Tour Championship and final FedEx Cup standings. Lowry has had another impressive season so far with two runners-up finishes and two other top-10s, so I think he is in good shape to challenge this week in a field where he is among the highest quality players.

He finished T3rd at the K Club two years ago, too, so I like his chances to bag a first victory since the 2022 BMW PGA Championship.

Pick Two: Jordan Smith +3500 To Win @ BetMGM

Smith is another who played well here two years ago at the K Club, with the Englishman finishing T12th after a tough final round. He has had a solid season with just one missed cut from 18 events so is certainly due an end to his near-three-year winless run that stretches back to October 2022's Portugal Masters.

The two-time DP World Tour winner has two runners-up finishes this year and has just gone 6-T33-T17 over his last three starts so is well placed to challenge in Ireland.

Pick One: Marco Penge +1400 To Win @ BetMGM

The Englishman has, arguably, been the best player on the DP World Tour over the last few months, with Penge winning the Danish Golf Championship and backing it up with a T6th at the British Masters and a T8th at the Omega European Masters.

On a course that measures a near 7,500 yards, I believe the two-time DP World Tour winner will have what it takes to overpower it, especially as previous winners include Vincent Norrman and Rory McIlroy, two very strong drivers of the golf ball. He's in good form and the course suits his game, so why can't Penge make it win number three this week?

Pick Two: Daniel Brown +6600 To Win @ BetMGM

Like Penge, Brown has enjoyed an excellent run of form lately, securing a win at the BMW International Open, as well as a T19th at the Nexo Championship and a T8th at the British Masters.

Stats-wise, Brown ranks solidly all-round, sitting 62nd for driving distance, 43rd in greens in regulation and 51st in average putts per round. On a course like the K Club, where ball striking is important, that will put him in good stead for yet another strong week on the DP World Tour.

Pick One: Rory McIlroy +400 To Win @ BetMGM

The odds are quite poor in terms of value for McIlroy this week, but if he wins - as many people expect him to - it will be better to have a little of something in return than a whole lot of nothing.

The 2016 Irish Open champion finished T16th here in 2023 but lost half a stroke to the field via a sub-standard approach game. Over the course of his past five starts, McIlroy has gained over half a stroke on the field in that area, so I hope it won't be too much of a problem this time. And as he begins to tune up for the Ryder Cup, a win on home soil will be the ideal launch pad.

Pick Two: Kristoffer Reitan +3300 To Win @ BetMGM

The Norwegian has been in excellent form since mid-April and proved that he enjoys this kind of course, with a win at the Soudal Open and top-10 results at the Hainan Classic, Austrian Open and BMW International Open.

Plus, should the weather turn a little more wintry in Ireland this week, Reitan has already proved that strong winds are no real problem via a T3rd at the Nexo Championship. Reitan has also shown several times now that he comes alive on a Sunday, so as long as he is in position to strike, it could well be the Norwegian who provides the strongest challenge to McIlroy.

Favorite: Nicolai Hojgaard +1600 To Win @ BetMGM

The Dane will be very happy for his twin bother, Rasmus, who qualified for the Ryder Cup team last week but knows that he surely has to win the European Masters to join Rasmus on Team Europe for his second successive appearance.

Nicolai was T2nd at the British Masters and has a good record at Crans Sur Sierre, having been T5th in 2023. He is a classy player with the tools and form to win this week along with added motivation, so I am confident in his chances.

Sleeper: Alex Fitzpatrick +4500 To Win @ BetMGM

While Matt Fitzpatrick has a superb record in Crans Montana, so does his brother Alex. The younger Fitzpatrick was T6th last year in Switzerland and T5th in 2023.

He comes into the week in great form after finishing T8th at the British Masters, so I think he is definitely worth a punt at this price as a sleeper.

Favorite: Jordan Smith +2800 To Win @ BetMGM

The Englishman has come close to victory on multiple occasions so, on a course that suits his game down to the ground, I'm backing Smith to go low in Switzerland and finally claim a win for the first time since October 2022.

At last year's event he finished T12th, and that included a torrid seven-over-par third round of 77. Had he shot level-par, he would have won the tournament by a single stroke.

Known for his iron play and laser-like accuracy, Crans-sur-Sierre is a perfect fit for Smith, who has a runner-up and sixth-place finish in two of his last three starts. He's playing well, which is why I'm predicting he will have yet another strong week.

Sleeper: Alex Fitzpatrick +4500 To Win @ BetMGM

His brother Matt may be the favorite, but I think Alex Fitzpatrick is set for a big week at the Omega European Masters, a tournament where he finished T6th last year.

Like Smith, a poor third round proved to be the difference in 2024 but, with the Englishman finishing T8th at the British Masters last week, and returning to a course where accuracy is a premium, Fitzpatrick has a great chance to put a strong result on the table.

Sitting 87th in the Race to Dubai rankings, a big week would go a long way for him to also get into the Playoffs in November.

Favorite: Matt Fitzpatrick +850 To Win @ BetMGM

I picked Fitzpatrick last week and he was three-quarters of the way to winning before an extremely underwhelming final round saw his chances fizzle away. However, he is generally playing really well at the moment and knows one win here will almost guarantee him a spot on Luke Donald's Ryder Cup roster.

He's a two-time champion here before, while Fitzpatrick has also finished runner-up and scored two further top-10s. So, in a field which is slightly stronger than your average DP World Tour event, I think it makes sense to back the clear favorite this time.

Special Bet: Tournament To Be Decided By A Playoff +350 @ BetMGM

In lieu of a sleeper pick this week, I'm going for the European Masters to be decided via a playoff. It has happened eight out of the past 11 times, with Matt Wallace triumphing over extra holes 12 months ago.

With a field of this quality in play, the end result is far more likely to be close than see a runaway winner. Of those who have reigned supreme over 72 holes in the past decade, no one has won by more than two strokes.

Harry Hall Top-5 (+350) and First-Round Leader (+3300) @ BetMGM

The Englishman is the best putter on the PGA Tour, the man who makes the most birdies and recently moved up to 10th in Data Golf’s ranking. He has five top-10s on the PGA Tour this year, too, so I like his chances to challenge again this week in a limited field.

It is his tournament debut so that doesn’t favor him, but he is in the form of his life and in desperate need to impress Luke Donald for a Ryder Cup wildcard pick so has an added incentive this week.

Andrew Novak Top-10 (+300) and First-Round Leader (+5500) @ BetMGM

Andrew Novak sits bottom of the pile in terms of the top-10 odds, which made me intrigued. He was T6th two weeks ago at the FedEx St Jude Championship and has the honor of playing with Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley on day one so will be very keen to impress and put in some good scores to earn a wildcard pick.

I think he is worth a small punt in the FRL market too at these odds as he looks to make his case to Bradley.

Tournament To End In A Playoff (+450) @ BetMGM

For 2025, the Tour Championship will revert back to all 30 players starting at level-par, which is a good thing, given how close previous tournaments would have been had they not been a staggered scoring start.

Looking at the last four events, Collin Morikawa (finished second overall with starting strokes included) finished one clear of Sahith Theegala (third) in 2024, while Viktor Hovland (first) and Xander Schauffele (second) would have both finished 19-under in 2023.

The year before that, Rory McIlroy (first) won by a single stroke from Sungjae Im (second), while Jon Rahm (second) and Kevin Na (third) would have ended their tournaments top at 14-under in 2021. Essentially, East Lake has a tendency to create close finishes and, for 2025, I think it will be a similar case, given the quality on show.

Maverick McNealy Winner Without Scottie Scheffler (+2500) @ BetMGM

The American has been one of the more consistent performers on the PGA Tour this season and, following a solo third at last week's BMW Championship, it's more than likely McNealy will be in the hunt for a closing victory.

Finishing runner-up at the Genesis Invitational in February, McNealy has numerous third-place finishes throughout this season and, making his Tour Championship debut, I think a big result will put his name firmly in the Ryder Cup picture. His all-round game should suit East Lake, and his consistency can't be ignored, which is why I believe he will be there or there abouts come Sunday.

Tour Championship Winning Margin To Be Four Strokes Or More (+240) @ BetMGM

In half of the six most recent iterations of the Tour Championship, the winning margin has been at least four shots. While that included Starting Strokes, which are no longer in use, it still proves that the winner can run away with the title if they find themselves on a hot streak.

Given Scheffler is the overwhelming favorite and is responsible for a four-stroke victory 12 months ago, it could be worth throwing something on this market to at least earn some money should the excitement factor in relation to the outright title race not turn out the way we'd all hoped.

Tommy Fleetwood To Have The Lowest Tournament Score In Group A (+275) @ BetMGM

Group A consists of Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood, Ludvig Aberg, Russell Henley and Viktor Hovland, so there is plenty of firepower there. But I believe Fleetwood can continue his form in the FedEx Cup Playoffs - where he is averaging 67 strokes per round - to finish as the lowest member of this Ryder Cup-themed quintet.

The Englishman has gone close to winning on the PGA Tour on several occasions recently, and I'm backing him to give it another really good go this week. Should he do so, there is every chance he wins this mini tournament.

Not only does the DP World Tour's Back 9 begin, but it is the final tournament of Team Europe's Ryder Cup qualification period, so a cluster of big-hitting pros who want to lock up their place on Luke Donald's roster are teeing it up.

Matt Fitzpatrick has been installed as the betting favorite by BetMGM while potential Ryder Cup hopefuls including Aaron Rai, Rasmus Hojgaard, Jordan Smith, Matt Wallace, Marco Penge and Nicolai Hojgaard populate most of the group right behind.

British Masters Betting Picks

Favorite: Thriston Lawrence +4000 To Win @ BetMGM

Lawrence has had a difficult season in America and spoke at the US Open about how tough it has been learning new courses each week. Well, this time around he returns to a happy hunting ground after finishing second last year to Niklas Norgaard.

Lawrence is a classy player with four DPWT wins and some big performances in Majors, so I like his chances to go well again at The Belfry. His best finish of 2025 is a T4th in Belgium on a brief European return while he was also T12th at Oakmont and T8th at the Rocket Classic.

Sleeper: Ben Schmidt +15000 To Win @ BetMGM

The Englishman finished third last week in Denmark, which was his best ever result in terms of OWGR points. It was his second top-five of the season on the DP World Tour and came a week after he was T13th at the Nexo Championship.

If you’re looking for a form horse at some very high odds, Schmidt is your man. Whether he can keep this run up is the risk you take, but he has been superb these past two weeks and could enjoy himself on home soil this week.

Favorite: Nicolai Hojgaard +2500 To Win @ BetMGM

Nicolai Hojgaard enjoyed a solid season on the PGA Tour, racking up three top-10s, including a T4th at the Genesis Scottish Open and a T14th at The Open Championship, which is why he is my favorite coming into The Belfry.

Finishing T34th at the Danish Golf Championship last week, this week's layout should suit the Dane, who ranks well in Strokes Gained: Tee to Green, particularly in the SG: Approach the Green category.

Like we saw with Niklas Norgaard last year, the course can be overpowered and, given that Hojgaard is the fifth longest hitter on the PGA Tour, this is what I'm banking on for this week.

Sleeper: Johannes Veerman +6600 To Win @ BetMGM

It's safe to say the American's form has been hit-and-miss this season, but a T13th and a T8th in his last three starts shows his game is there, especially as that T8th came at last week's Danish Golf Championship.

Finishing T23rd at the British Masters in 2024, Veerman has course form around The Belfry and, like Hojgaard, ranks well in driving distance (24th) and greens in regulation (21st). The only slight negative is the putter, but if he can replicate the last few events, I suspect the 33-year-old could have yet another strong week.

Favorite: Matt Fitzpatrick +1100 To Win @ BetMGM

Fitzpatrick is the obvious favorite in that he's won this event before (although not at the same course), he is incredibly accurate and has the power to make life a lot easier for himself around this tight Brabazon Course. Not to mention, he has been trending really nicely since May with five top-10s in 11 starts on the PGA Tour and in Majors.

I have to feel that if anyone beats Fitzpatrick, they probably win the title. But with the aim of securing a Ryder Cup place on the line for the Englishman, I can't see anyone in this field managing it.

Sleeper: Joost Luiten +5500 To Win @ BetMGM

Luiten might not win this week, but he makes a lot of sense for an each-way/top-10 pick given his record at this event and course plus his overall game. The Dutchman has never missed a cut in six appearances and he has two top-10s in his previous four attempts.

Luiten's recent form is a bit hit-and-miss, but when he has done well, it seems to generally be at tighter tree-lined layouts such as the Brabazon Course. He was T4th at the BMW International Open, T5th at the Turkish Airlines Open and third at the Indian Open earlier this year. All of those factors suggest this week could be another positive experience for Luiten.

Tour Championship Betting Picks

Pick One: Rory McIlroy +850 To Win @ BetMGM

I can’t tell you not to back Scottie Scheffler this week but who else could be worth a look aside from the World No.1? Step in Rory McIlroy. The Masters champion said he found something on the back nine at Caves Valley where he made four birdies in his final eight holes to finish T12 at the BMW.

McIlroy is a three-time FedEx Cup winner and I wouldn’t back against him making it four. The Northern Irishman loves East Lake so I like his chances this week, especially as it feels like he is due another big week having had a winless summer after his third victory of 2025 in Augusta.

Pick Two: Russell Henley +1600 To Win @ BetMGM

Henley is ranked fourth in the world right now and could certainly be the man to spoil Scottie Scheffler’s party this weekend. The man from just south of Atlanta was fourth here last year in terms of 72 hole scores and T13th in 2023, and is currently on a six-event run of finishing inside the top-17. He also has a runner-up finish in that spell at the Travelers Championship.

The 36-year-old is undoubtedly the most underrated player in the men’s game right now so don’t be surprised if he is the man lifting the FedEx Cup on Sunday evening.

Pick One: Rory McIlroy +850 To Win @ BetMGM

Scheffler is the clear favorite, but, after making his competitive return last week, I believe McIlroy could spring a surprise with what are generous odds for someone of his quality.

Possessing an excellent record around East Lake, claiming multiple victories, the 36-year-old will be looking to secure his first win since The Masters ahead of what is a busy stretch of golf for him.

Finishing T12th last week at the BMW Championship, he didn't have his best stuff, but sounded confident following his final round. A confident McIlroy is a dangerous McIlroy, which is why I'm backing him to add another Tour Championship to his CV.

Pick Two: Sam Burns +2500 To Win @ BetMGM

I was 50/50 on whether to back Russell Henley or Burns but, in the end, I've gone with the latter, who produced a T4th at last week's BMW Championship, firing four solid rounds in the 60s.

As of writing, Burns isn't guaranteed a spot on the US Ryder Cup side, but with a strong result at East Lake, you would like to think he would be part of the 12-man team in September.

Previous course form is a good indicator that Burns likes the East Lake layout. In 2024, he would have finished T13th without the starting strokes and, the previous year, would have ended T4th.

Pick One: Scottie Scheffler +170 To Win @ BetMGM

If you have X number of dollars to bet and you want to put half on any player in the 30-man field, I'd heartily recommend putting them on Scottie Scheffler. His odds are possibly the lowest they've been all season, but because they're positive and he's such a cheat code right now, I still think it's worth a punt.

It doesn't matter who his caddie is or where he's playing or even - at times - how he's playing, Scheffler finds a way to get the job done. At a course which requires all areas of a player's game to be on point, there is only one man you can feel completely confident in.

Pick Two: Tommy Fleetwood +1200 @ BetMGM

If there is one other player who has been almost as consistent as Scheffler in the Playoffs, at least, it's Tommy Fleetwood. The Englishman has averaged 67 strokes per round through the first two FedEx Cup Playoff events and very nearly tasted success on the PGA Tour at the FedEx St Jude Championship.

He said he would remain positive despite the failure, and he did by coming out and finishing T4th at the BMW Championship days later. Apparently unshaken by a couple of recent near misses, I would love to see Fleetwood snatch the Tour Championship from under the nose of Scheffler and stick it to all those who continue to doubt him.

Current standings leader, Joaquin Niemann is in touching distance of a first season-long crown, but his form has been wildly erratic this term with five wins but a best finish of T12th otherwise.

LIV Golf Indianapolis Course Guide: The Club at Chatham Hills

Designed and built by renowned architect, Pete Dye - who lived close by - The Club at Chatham Hills was only opened in 2014. The private club has since seen new tees built on seven different holes, including 16, 17 and 18.

It features plenty of water, wooded areas and rolling topography and has been named as one of the best courses in the state over the past few years.

The signature hole is the 448-yard 18th which slowly rises and bends its way around to the green. Another notable hole is the par-3 third which often leads to over-par scores throughout the week.

The course itself will play as a par-71 for LIV Golf Indianapolis, but it will only measure at just over 7,100 yards. So, power will not necessarily be all that helpful and those who excel in terms of distance control should come to the fore.

Chatham Hills isn’t overly long so it should be a course that works in Patrick Reed’s favor, especially in the form the Texan currently is in. He has 10 consecutive top-25s in LIV Golf this year including his first win and five other top-10s. Now that he has his maiden LIV Golf win, he could well kick on and hoist some more trophies.

Sleeper: Mito Pereira +25000 To Win @ BetMGM

The Chilean needs to finish in the top-24 this week to keep his spot on LIV Golf, and he appears to have found form just in time after his best result of the season in Chicago last week, where he was T13th.

Pereira has been surprisingly poor in LIV Golf after a very promising start to his career on the Korn Ferry and PGA Tours - remember he was a par away from becoming a Major Champion in 2022 - so I have a hunch that he can dig himself out of the drop zone and secure his job for next year.

Favorite: Jon Rahm +450 To Win @ BetMGM

Jon Rahm needs something of a minor miracle to nip past Joaquin Niemann at LIV Golf Indianapolis, and I have a strange feeling he might just manage it. Rahm has, once again, been a picture of consistency throughout 2025 but has somehow yet to manage a win. On the flip side, Niemann has five wins but only twice has he finished inside the top-20 otherwise.

The Club at Chatham Hills, in LIV's own words, is expected to suit Rahm over Niemann and I think the pressure of the situation can only help the Spaniard as he has nothing to lose but everything to gain. If Niemann casts his mind back to 12 months ago (although, admittedly, the situation was different), the nerves could set in and that inconsistency he has endured this year may just cost him.

Sleeper: Paul Casey +2500 To Win @ BetMGM

Casey is just beginning to peak at the right time, with a T5th, a T11th and a runner-up finish in his past four starts. The Englishman has populated the top-10 four times this term overall and his game could help make that five at The Club at Chatham Hills.

Casey is known for his accuracy and distance control over outright power, and that could really help him in his quest to the podium this weekend. A combination of form and natural ability leads me to believing Casey could have a sneaky chance while fireworks are going off elsewhere.

While players like Scottie Scheffler, the returning Rory McIlroy and even the absent Sepp Straka can relax to a certain extent knowing their futures are already locked up, everyone involved will still be jostling for position given there is another round of FedEx Cup Playoffs bonus payments due once the action has concluded at Caves Valley.

With the stakes so high in Maryland, it will be vitally important to make a fast start at a course which flowed with birdies last time the BMW Championship was staged here.

Back in 2021, McIlroy, Sam Burns and Jon Rahm all flew out of the gates via rounds of 64 and co-led through 18 holes. However, none of them could maintain that hot start as Patrick Cantlay defeated Bryson DeChambeau in a playoff after both reached 27-under through 72 holes.

Scottie Scheffler FRL +750 @ BetMGM

Admittedly, it's hardly the most brave of calls, but I like Scheffler as first-round leader for a lot of reasons. Firstly, his Thursday scoring average among all PGA Tour players is the second best behind Keith Mitchell at 67.65 (Mitchell is 67.58).

Then there is the overall adjusted and total scoring average through all four rounds standing at 68.24, where he is No.1 on the PGA Tour, suggesting that the chances of a lower score in round one are slightly higher from Scheffler compared to anyone else.

Scheffler is second in birdie average, first in bogey avoidance and he has the highest birdie-or-better percentage of anyone on the PGA Tour.

Another factor which helps the four-time Major winner's case is the fact that he finished third last week without being able to showcase his best stuff. Scheffler is World No.1 for a reason. Those adjustments will surely be made quickly and he could come out firing at Caves Valley.

In 2021, when the BMW Championship was last held here, Scheffler opened up with a 73 but then went 68 or lower in all three rounds thereafter. Given that he is a far superior player to even three years ago, the signs are ominous for the rest of the field.

Ben Griffin FRL +3300 @ BetMGM

If you are looking for a touch more value from your first-round leader pick, I think Ben Griffin might well be the way to go. The American is keen for another good performance to add another nail into his Ryder Cup selection claims, so motivation will be high this week.

His round one scoring average is 69.16 this season, and only a handful of players left in the FedEx Cup Playoffs can better that. Plus, including his win at the Charles Schwab Challenge, Griffin has opened up with scores of 66 or 67 in six of his seven most recent top-25 results, so the form is there.

The two-time PGA Tour winner also has a history of leading tournaments after the first round, with his most recent effort coming at the Memorial Tournament in June.

Griffin is 11th in SG: Total this term and eighth in total scoring average, highlighting just how well he has been playing all year, not just since his win. Although he did not play this event when it was last hosted at Caves Valley in 2021, Griffin is now competing at the highest level and I have no doubt he will take to the task like a duck to water this week.

49 of the top-50 players on the historic US circuit are in attendance at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Maryland, with only Sepp Straka absent after it was confirmed that he had withdrawn in the build-up.

The Austrian's position at the Tour Championship is safe, regardless, due to sitting fifth in the FedEx Cup standings. But, for the remainder of the field, they will all be looking to finish as high as possible to ensure a top-30 spot once this week's no-cut event has wrapped up.

Scottie Scheffler is the betting favorite to lift the title, comfortably ahead of the returning Rory McIlroy and a considerable figure in front of the rest.

But given the two world leaders are priced so short for the BMW Championship, you might want to consider looking elsewhere for a bit of value. That should not be a problem given the intense quality of those in the field and the fine margins which are so often witnessed in elite-level sport.

With spots on Ryder Cup rosters and places in the big-money Tour Championship on the line, everyone in action this week has something considerable to fight for.

Jhonattan Vegas +12500 To Win (+550 Top-10) @ BetMGM

The big-hitting Venezuelan snuck into the top 50 courtesy of an excellent 68 in Memphis on Sunday, where he birdied three of his last eight holes. Vegas is on a steady run with just one missed cut since The Masters, and he has a T5 at the PGA Championship in that run (his best career Major finish).

He was T14 at the FedEx St Jude where he gained over five strokes in approach and still finished inside the top 15 despite losing strokes on the greens. If he can roll in some more putts this week I think he could easily challenge the top page of the leaderboard.

Thomas Detry +15000 To Win (+550 Top-10) @ BetMGM

It feels like a long time ago that Detry charged through to easily win his maiden PGA Tour title at the WM Phoenix Open by seven strokes.

The supremely talented Belgian has seemingly fallen out of Ryder Cup contention but a big finish to the Playoffs could change that. He is 36th in the standings so could easily make the Tour Championship with a good showing at the BMW.

A poor final round cost him a top-20 at the FedEx St Jude Championship on last week, where he gained strokes in putting, short game and approach. I think he could be a good surprise pick for a top-10 this week considering he played solid golf last week and seems overdue a good performance.

Harris English +5000 To Win (+275 Top-10) @ BetMGM

English is criminally undervalued this week, I feel, making him the perfect choice for a sleeper pick at the BMW Championship. He is +5000 to win and +275 to finish inside the top-10, despite being sixth in Team USA's Ryder Cup standings and playing some of the best golf of his career.

Admittedly, last week was a little sloppy with a T48th finish most likely the result of rust over a sudden loss of form, but I don't expect that to continue after a week of competitive reps. And I know English's record at the BMW Championship isn't amazing, but he did finish T10th in 2023 and T26th when Caves Valley last hosted in 2021.

For someone who doesn't always putt all that smoothly, English's numbers here are exemplary, so I really don't see why he can't sneak up along the rail and content for a top-10 at the very least here this week.

Brian Harman +9000 To Win (+400 Top-10) @ BetMGM

Harman is another who seems to be overpriced, especially when you consider recent form at this event and over the course of his season. The left-hander was T29th here in 2021 but has since finished T5th (2023) and solo 25th (2024) so has good memories to draw on.

Over his past four starts, Harman has finished eighth, T50th, T10th and T22nd, with incredible accuracy the hallmark of his game as always. A lack of power might be an issue for others, but Harman is more than capable of thinking his way around Caves Valley and sneaking in the back door for a well-deserved top-10. At +400 to do just that, I feel you have to consider him.

Chris Gotterup +4000 To Win (+230 Top-10) @ BetMGM

Chris Gotterup has taken the the golf world by storm in his last four starts, with a second PGA Tour win in Scotland, a third place finish at the Open Championship and a top-10 finish at the 3M Open.

That surge in form has seen him rise 131 places in the Official World Golf Rankings, from 158th to 27th, but things could get even better for the American.

He was somewhat disappointing by recent standards last week at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, but this test suits him better than TPC Southwind and I wouldn't be surprised to see him utilise his strengths once again.

Gotterup ranks second for driving distance and 11th for SG: Around The Green, therefore offering a similar profile to headline pick Rory McIlroy at a much bigger price, so he could also be worth siding with in top-10 finish markets.

Matt Fitzpatrick +3300 To Win (+240 Top-10) @ BetMGM

Matt Fitzpatrick has been trending in the right direction for some time now, rising 40 places in the Official World Golf Rankings in his last six starts courtesy of four top-eight finishes.

The former US Open Champion hasn't missed a cut since the week before The Masters, which is a significant upturn from the poor form we saw the start of the season.

This bet would have won in 50% of his last ten starts, which is very encouraging considering the smaller field size, and I can see Fitzpatrick closing out the year in style. Who knows, he might even go and win it!

But before that, each of the players in this week's impressive field are hunting a priceless victory which would change their seasons - and potentially their careers - for the better.

The twin stars of Danish golf, Rasmus and Nicolai Hojgaard, lead the betting market with BetMGM and are expected to contend at the event Rasmus won only two years ago.

Danish Golf Championship Course Guide: Furesø Golf Klub

Furesø Golfklub is a 27-hole facility located north of Denmark's capital, Copenhagen. It began life as a small par-3 course in 1975 before expanding to a full nine-hole course four years later. In 1989, the nine-hole became an 18-hole layout before a further nine holes were added in 1996.

The club was completely renovated in 2015 by Scottish architectural firm, Mackenzie & Ebert, with careful consideration given to the Hestkøbgård buildings which house the clubhouse, pro shop and changing rooms as they are believed to date back to 1370.

For the Danish Golf Championship, Furesø will measure out at 7,011 yards and play as a par 71 with four par-3s and three par-5s - one of which is the closing hole.

As with many courses in the Nordic countries, it is tree-lined and awkward to navigate along, so accuracy will be vitally important to the eventual winner.
